Looking forward to this! Jedi are you coming out to the event? I assume you are Swoope?
i will be at the conti race on friday. i have been at that race for last ~12 year. think i missed one.. it is going to be interesting with only 40 cars in the field. i have planned for years to go to the friday race and stay for the whole weekend. and every time it is awesome on friday. and cold or cold and raining on sat and sun.
i recall back in the great economy days 115 cars started the friday race.. sat I will be finishing up my rx8. new calipers, pads and rotors.. and installing coilovers. you might expect an email about proper grease for the mazdaspeed rear tops.. i think i have a pdx event on the sebring long course feb 10.
btw, the motor swap went well, and is running really good.
i am a bit confused about this. i see on fox sports go that they have 24 hr coverage from 4 in car cameras.. last year imsa.com streamed the whole event.
i have fox sp1 but do not have sp2. it would suck to be working on my car without auto racing playing in the background..
Qualifying for the Rolex 24 is in the books and it was not a good one for the Mazda cars.
While I don't put a whole lot of stock into pole positions for a 24 hour race, I'm pretty sure this is not what we were all expecting.
Both of the Mazda RT24-Ps and the No. 90 Visit Florida Racing Riley Mk. 30 Gibson struggled, bringing up the rear.
Jonathan Bomarito’s 1:39.940 lap was more than three seconds off the pace from Barbosa’s pole-sitting time, and ended up ninth on the time sheets.
Although the qualifying results are a bit disappointing to look at, I agree that qualifying for an endurance event is not of paramount importance. Especially on a soggy track, in a new car, with a new race starting format. Hopefully they just decided risking an overnight trackside rebuild/repair was not worth the improved starting positions.

like the Dragonspeed team did today?
this team has a loooooong night ahead of them as they're switching everything over to the spare tub they had available at the track.
can't imagine tearing down and rebuilding an entire race car in one night.
had a great day, weather could not have been better.. crowd for this race was medium.. racing was good. cant wait to see it on tv, as there are some holes in the finish..
in gs the gt 350 had it covered. but that is racing.
in st, wow the mini killed it. but not in a easy way..
So, does anyone know what's been going on with the #70?
I know early on it got punted by Jeff Gordon, but it has spend so many laps in the pits, it's not even funny.
#55 was up in fourth a while back, but it somehow managed to get a penalty that made it lose 5 spots, down to 9th, right in front of #70.
So, Mazda's lack of competitiveness on the race track continues for another season.
wasn't home most of the day but now watching the race.
oh man, rain is starting to come down so it should be interesting to see how this affects some of the cars.
Mazda seems to be down on speed all day.
what's going on with the #70? Looks to be stopped in the pits.
Yeah, it was sitting on pit lane for about 10 minutes, with no one barely touching the car, then suddenly it looks like they were working on something in front of the windshield wiper motor, and then they pushed it into the garage about 5 minutes ago.
The car has gremlins in it, and has for a while.
#55 is up to 8th, so I guess they have that going for them.
Just announced: #70 is getting a gearbox swap and will return back on track once repair is complete.
that's great news!
they're obviously out of contention but the more miles they can put on these cars, the better off they'll be over the course of the season.
I have access to the Fox Sports Go website, but my direct tv package doesn't include FS2, so I can't see anything there. FSG doesn't seem to have a Mazda feed, but he isma website does.
damn it!
woke up, saw they were still running and then the damn thing goes up in flames.
I just wanted to see Mazda finish a race and not have to worry about engine reliability.
so much for that.
Oh well, plenty of racing left this season so if they can find a little more speed, I think they can challenge.
we've got one Hell of a race on our hands here with under 20 minutes to go.
I'm pulling for the 10 car, I'd like to see Max Angelelli go out with a win
and WOW, that GTLM battle is going to be close. That Porsche suddenly has a ton of speed
ANNNNNDDDDD just as I say that.... HOLY ****, what a run by Taylor into turn 1.
wow.
thought those two were going to wreck if someone didn't let up.
after having an awsome day watching the race in person friday, the rolex does what it does every year. get really cold or rains. usually both..
i was able to watch 19 hours. on fox sports go.. that was all i was awake for.. fell asleep just at the weather yellow came out at ~5am. woke up at 10am and finished the race.
damn good race on many levels. sucks again the mazda did not finish, but i dont think this car will be like the diesel. but just guessing.
Yep, raining, windy and cold indeed. Saturday morning and afternoon were good for the most part which made the garage area nice and the pre-race car lineup/parade fun for everyone.
The Mazda's were easily the best looking of the cars and were quite quick as well. When standing at the horseshoe the 6.2l Caddys were slightly quicker off the corner than everyone else in the class but word is the Mazda's had the power turned down a bit which didn't surprise me at all.
Still shaking it down, hopefully they will get it sorted and have better success throughout the year.
