PRESS RELEASE

All-new Mazda6 to Debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show

Hiroshima, 07th August 2007. Mazda Motor Corporation will showcase the world premiere of the all-new Mazda6 (known as the all-new Mazda Atenza in Japan) at the 62nd annual Frankfurt Motor Show to be held from Tuesday, September 11 through Sunday, September 23, 2007.

The Frankfurt Motor Show press days are September 11 and 12, and the public days are September 15-23. Mazda will hold its press conference on Tuesday, September 11, at 13:45 (local time).

The all-new Mazda6 arrives as a full redesign of Mazda's first model to embody the Zoom-Zoom product philosophy, offering a thrilling drive to all those who still remember the love of motion first experienced as a child. Following the all-new Mazda2, the new Mazda6 is the second Mazda new generation product to evolve to the next stage, further deepening the emotional connection between man and machine - Mazda calls it "Kizuna".

Inheriting Mazda's tradition of responsive handling and performance that has become recognized around the world and evolving the original model's distinctive design and exceptional functionality, the all-new Mazda6 takes a step forward in quality and offers strengthened environmental and safety performance. The result is an exciting and delightful experience that only the all-new Mazda6 can deliver.

It looks awesome, more upscale look. I like the exterior already, but I think the biggest improvement will be found in the interior and powertrain (AWD option). The 3.5L V6 coupled with the Haldex AWD will get many buyers' attention. The V6 runs on 87 octane and should be pretty good on fuel economy, also you cant find a AWD camry and accord. Also AWD + 2.5L I4 will satisfy many buyers who want an economical AWD sedan.

The Duratec 6 isn't a bad motor, lots of pep. It's prime for turbocharging a la Lincoln MKR - a 415 HP AWD MS6 sounds pretty tempting to me -

clearly the idea that some of the inspiration for the new styling comes from the Merc CL has some merit

I think it's the other way around. Mercedes didn't start looking good until recently. Mazdas had the bird of prey-like appearance even when Mercs still had bug eyes.

OK.

The new CL-class Mercs are great-looking, especially the profile, so it is a good thing.

Official New Mazda6 Photo

Released this morning. They keep calling it a "teaser" so I am not sure if it is the final product or something similar. Either way I like it a lot more than a lot of the spy photos I have been seeing.

I don't know. Considering how good the Mondeo looks I'd have to say I'm a bit disappointed in this photo. Can't wait to see the rest though, it's hard to tell what's going on with it here.

Mondeo?

Are you sure, map?

I don't think they're even in the same league.

This is better, but still don't think it has any design advantage over the new 6.
The 6 is looking more graceful/flowing while the Mondeo looks technical/mechanical.

I like that front end! I see hints of 8 in the wheel arches and I really like the headlight cluster!
