I far prefer 300zx to supras.
A supra is a fine piece of engineering, but not my speed.
One of my friends said it best "Getting a supra because it's fast is like dating a fat ugly chick because she knows how to screw"

Yeah, I have to say that I like the looks of the Supra more than the 300ZX. They are both fat chicks in my books but, the Supra is a fat chick with a nice face, you know the ones.
Here is a decent 300ZX for comparison. They don't age well IMO

Just never liked the look of the 300ZX, and I think the Supra is all around a better engineered car. But I'm with some of the others, both are overweight as far as I'm concerned.

I've seen one in person in Gainesville, very clean blue one I was in so much awe I followed him down some road and got lost. He had a nice exhaust, Tanabe I think, and one loud *** blow off valve..I almost wet myself

that is a very well known supra in the import industry. it was a feature ride in superstreet (and i'm sure some other magazines as well). if i remember correctly the owner is either a part-time or full-time highschool teacher and started a project with his students. they eventually helped build/give ideas/whatever they could've done to make what you see in those pictures. but i'd take a supra in a heartbeat...

yeah, the supra was designed to be faster than the 300zx in every way... and it was successful. the 2JZ engine is just awesome.
and they are both indeed tubby.
I understand that when you hussy it up, it looks nice. But without a body kit, the supra just makes me wanna heave.
look at this one without any extra "stuff" on it

look, here is a picture of a stock 300zx for comparitive purposes.

mmm yum
It would appear that I am in the minority here... But the 300zx has all kinds of heritage and is elegant and beautiful... the supra is just an attempt to be a 300zx killer. It is all personal opinion, I suppose.

Stock to stock the Supra is definitely the better looking and performing car. The 300zx just looks like the squared off verson of the Camaro to me. Take a flat bottomed boat and flip it over, cut out a hole and attach driver canopy, put on four wheels and add a drivetrain and you're ready to roll.
I'd still take a zx if it were offered, but if I had the choice of the two there is no question. Even if it is an N/A Supra, it has the edge over the zx. I know that's just my opinion, but not many choose to disagree. Heritage doesn't mean anything to me as far as cars go. I want the car to do well what it was designed to do well. These two cars were designed for the same purpose and the Supra was the better car.

grin. well viva la difference.
we are all entitled to our opinion.
Getting 400 horsepower out of a 300zx was cake: intake, exhaust and ECU. skidpads were similar between the cars... the big differences were when you threw larger turbos to get insane amounts of power out of them... and this is where the supra kicked the z's ***. the 2jz-gte is just a much more durable engine than the vg30dett.
looks are definitely subjective, but I think taking an N/A supra over a turbo 300zx is a little excessive.
