Opinions on Chevrolet HHR
Saw ad for this when checking my yahoo mail. OMG.. why?
Edited my new top 5 of recent ugly cars: 1. Pontiac Aztek 2. Chevy SSR 3. Chevy HHR 4. Honda Insight 5. Chevy Monte Carlo. Honorable mentions: Chevy Cobalt, Ford Thunderbird, Honda Element.
Disclaimer: It's only coincidence they are mostly Chevrolets and I really like the way the new Corvette clooks.

Drove the Equinox today. Very nice ride. Unfortunately my wife's beautiful Mazda 6 got crunched last week by a inattentive 16 year old girl when she decided not to yield on green in a turning lane and drove right into my driver side. Damaged the front and spun me enough to damage the back. Front wheel was bent. I doubt I will get lucky enough for them to total it but I am getting rid of it. They never are the saem after a repair it seems. Equinox has moved up on the list as it seems Chevy has gotten one right.

I drove the Equinox a while back and I was impressed as well. It is great use of space, it looks alright, and it is perfect for what it should be.
The HHR is much smaller in person than I imagined. I don't know why I thought it was so big when I saw it in pictures but it is pretty small...I don't know if it is...but it looks smaller than a PT.

I agree with the PT cruiser comments. I know every company reverse engineers to some degree, but this is the worst that I have ever seen. What makes it so bad is that the PT Cruiser is so unique, so anything that is similar will look like a copy. If I were Chrysler I would be looking for a reason to take GM to court for this one. I bet they could get it to trial winning is another thing, but jurors can be irrational, so whats the worst that could happen.
That being said, I would go with the PT if I had to choose, as it’s the car that’s got the most street time, so you know they’ve worked out most of the bugs. If I was just looking for a car similar to the HHR, I would go with the Magnum! I think all three are fairly similar, but the Magnum has some power and comes in all wheel drive.

Dude,
A magnum, a PT and a HHR are kinda in different categories. That is kind like me saying I really like the RX-8, the Z and the Corvette. The HHR is freaking tiny...it is almost a baby PT curiser if you can imagine such a thing and the Magnum is HUGE. A HHR next to Magnum would look like a GTI next to Caprice Wagon.

I've seen a HHR next to a PT and it's bigger than the PT (mostly longer).
I think they look terrible, worse in person.
It kills me how GM execs get all huffy when people compare the HHR to the PT and deny any influence from the PT. Haha

I kinda like it. I think it could look pretty good in the right hands. Little lower, less chrome, change the grill, black, white walls.. It would look decent. Maybe a burgundy with woody panels and white walls.

I was in the market for a smaller suv and looked at the Saturn, chevy equinox, sante fe, and ford escape. My wife mentioned the sorento and I was reluctant at first, it being a kia, but after reading all the reviews of the truck, which everyone seemed to rate very good, I went and looked at one.
More room then all the others, more options then all the others, better warrenty, and costs cheaper. I was very impresssed with this truck and later found out it's made by hyundai, who's quality has come way up in the last few years. Anyway, we bought the Kia. 2 years later, it has never seen the inside of the shop, other then oil changes. Nothing's broke, nothing rattling, nothing squeeling, not even a busted ****. This is an excellent choice for those looking at the less then large suv market, I would highly recommend it.

As always you can never argue about taste. But I don't think it looks that bad either. I always favor any wagon kind of car over any SUV any day, since I like to pay less on gas and like not to have to worry about rolling it over.
And regarding similarities with the PT cruiser. It's just that both cars don't fit the usual pattern most people are familiar with. A person living 50 years ago might have argued that the RAM and the F150 look the same as well.
