picked up an FX35...

I'm pretty sure the AWD and RWD versions are similair, although I haven't seen nearly as many RWD models as AWD models at dealerships or reviewed in magazines. It's a matter of preference and need, but the ATTESSA all wheel drive system is (and has been for a while) one of the best drivetrains in the world. Besides the JDM Nissan Skyline, I believe the FX line the only car to have it. It's the only car is the USDM to have it at least. It RWD biased as opposed to most all wheel drivetrains out there. Because of that the FX has an incredibly neutral feeling until there's a loss in traction. I personally prefer this AWD to the setup in my Evo. Of course a horizontally opposed engine changes everything, but I like the setup on the FX for daily driving much better.

sweet thanks man, i compared the mileage and price and they're not that much off. Its only about a couple grand more for AWD, (extra $30 a month haha) so i think I will go for the AWD version then. The wifey wanted the white pearl but it doesnt come with black interior, so we might end up with that titanium grey model.

We got the pearl white exterior with (I think) it's an off white interior. It stays cool in the sun whatever it is. Haha. I took the car up to Tahoe in late February and it was a beast in the snow. It was one of those days where it was warm in the morning and there was melted snow and mud mixed in with the snow. It did great. When we left the mud and puddles were starting to freeze over and again it did a good job. I tried to fack around in the snow but the damn DSC (or whatever it's called) won't let you kick the *** end around. Good to know for my wife when she's driving but I could live without the electronic nanny. Just the same good luck and post some pics when you gt it. If it's not too late I would definately recommend getting the Sirius radio (or at least a pre-wired option) and the package with the bigger 21" wheels. I think they make the FX look a lot better and the satellite radio...well it's just awesome to be able to control and interface with the factory GUI and the steering wheel controls. It's a very clean setup!

As nice as the FX-35 is to look at is it really much different than the G35? Besides the fact that it sits higher up is there anything else appreciably better/different in the FX? Just curious.

No problem XDEEDUBBX! Good luck with everything. Kids will thank you for it eventually.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but, having cross-shopped the CX-7 before deciding on the FX, I can tell you there is an absolutely noticeable difference in build quality, in-cabin noise, handling, creature comforts and even power. That's why the FX costs a lot more. It beats the CX-7 every which way but loose. In the end you get what you pay for.

I am sorry you are beholding an eye that makes those aesthetic decisions.

Unlike you, I didn't offer my worthless opinion to the world of which vehicle I find more aesthetically pleasing. I simply said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Please reread the words in my post that you specifically quoted.

The FX35 is actually my wife's car. She fills it with 87 and I usually will do 91 or 89 when I have it for the day. Honestly though I can't feel a difference in performance or mileage. I never hear pinging with 87 and I've never noticed more power on 91.

It was time to add a little luxury to the stable. My Evo is fun but it's become an impractical, high horsepower, nearly uninsurable $30k toy unsuitable for anything short of hauling *** around town. The wife's Xterra is fun too, in a utilitarian, X-gaming, 4WD kind of way. Tonight we finally brought home a car we don't have to apologize for when people get inside. Here are some pics.
Creature comforts out the ***. It has every single option. It's my wife's car so I wasn't expecting to take the test drive. The weather was bad though so I volunteered because my wife looked a little uncomfortable driving an unfamilair car in heavy rains and wind. I saw it as a perfect chance to really see what the car can do. The AWD system is noticeably RWD biased. Steering rack is uber quick. Wasn't expecting that. Very good torque and amazing lack of body roll are probably the best performance traits. I took an onramp with all the little cars without a second thought. Brakes are big and grabby. Love the sound of the VQ35 too.

Did you consider the Mazda CX-9?

Thanks! You know I don't think the CX-9 was even out yet when we were deciding. I may be wrong. We test drove the CX-7 in October and I know there weren't any CX-9 models at the dealerships then. We just really like the FX. Everybody we've dealt with at the Infiniti dealership, from sales to service, has been really good too. They replaced the rear pads AND rotors for free after they couldn't fix a squeaky brake problem...and my wife got a new G35 as a loaner for the day. I've been really impressed compared to the Nissan and Mitsubishi dealerships we're naturally using as a reference.

Every dealer had a CX-9 by January 2007.
