Police take Viper for driving 127 in a 35.
Driving that fast in a 35 zone is pretty stupid, but $70,000 plus whatever other legal fees and fines for a speeding ticket is pretty steep.

Ok the guy is a moron for flee'ing should of just pulled over and took the really bad speeding ticket and most likely a loss of his lisence for a few months possibly to a year (or more who knows each state is different).
But my one gripe with the story is what the police did with the car. The seized it good job teaches the guy a lesson, but they decided instead of auctioning it off to keep it and give it a custom paint job and slap on some lights and other police dodads. I'm sorry that must of cost a few grand in cash that most likely came out of the police's budget I guess that town is pretty well off to splurge like that. Kinda curious if the police's insurance went up a bit for insuring the car.

pshh, that viper can slam his brakes on, but at 127mph it will still seem like he is fleeing lol, clavius you have a good point what kind of town can afford a viper and its upgrades? instead of painting the dam thing with all that D.A.R.E. hooblah they could have sold it at auction and gave some money to the foundation.

seized vehicles being used for D.A.R.E. is not all that uncommon here in California. If you think about it, painting it and adding lights is MUCH cheaper then buying a new Charger (which is what they're using in CA now) with the Police Enforcement Package.
They'll probably end up using it for giving speeders tickets on the highways. Florida has 3 Lamborghinis they use for that same purpose. (all seized)

ouch. got what he deserved, tho. there's no reason EVER to do something that stupid.
he shouldn't be allowed to drive for a long, long time. 35 mph means it's a populated area. stupid, stupid.
not to mention the fact that he obviously sucks - there's no way in hell a cruiser on the side of the road should have even had that car still in view when he pulled onto the road. (my guess is he was spotted by someone else - not the cop that got him on the radar)

We have a RX8 member that lives in that town. They wouldn't be able to outrun that car even if they thought about trying it.

We have in my state "HOON" Legislation, i.e continuously doing burnouts on public roads, and or speeding you will see your car confiscated for a period of time, plus a fine, and demerit point loss on your drivers license, IF YOU KEEP on getting caught after about the 4 th time the cops SELL your car., and you do not get the $$$ss.
You also lose your license for a year.

Seriously....that's instant jail time and revoked license for plain stupidity. Could have ended much worse. We all may go a bit over the speed limit in a 35mph zone but that's insane. Obviously more to the story that we do not know.

There is an officer here in S.Miami that drives a seized BB RX-8 with rims, RB exhaust, and a lip kit. His fav. mod apperantly is the set of blue lights installed behind his rear-view. I saw him pull someone over by my old college downtown a few months ago.
And to confirm what someone said earlier, the officer said that they have several sports cars (Porsches, BMWs, Rx8, and a few Lambos) that have been seized from drug dealers and the like, and turned into undercover rolling speed traps.
Imagine my parinoia thinking that every BB rx8 on the road is a cop!
