Possible further developments with Alfa Romeo for Mazda

reading about the ownership history of some of these companies is really interesting, some like Ford and Ferrari are just family owned, but some like Audi and Subaru have these really convoluted histories

Toyota owns a large stake in Subaru (they bought out GMs share as I recall) thus the joint FRS/BRZ venture.
*Edit: Looks like it's 16.7% ownership. (Technically in Fuji Heavy Industries the parent company.)

The sharing of platform with Alfa could save a lot of money for both, is not the same case compared to the 90's Mazda fail in luxury market....
engines?
we have the SA pistons (2.5 -maybe SCharged- and 2.2 diesel) and eventually a SKY-RE for higher spec versions..
a couple of SA engine are SURELY suited for RWD mounting (see ND)...
i don't see an enormous investment in terms of money...the bigger part is the platform, and this thing can be shared...
it will NOT be the same case of Subaru/toyota...both cars will be different in style and engines and manufactured in different places...
