Potential EVO Buyers Beware!
#26
i am a former employee of mitsu corpate in socal. being there i learned interesting things lol.
anyway one of the biggest hits to mitsu came a few years back when they where offering lancer nothing down nothing for a year the problem came a year later when these buyers where like im not gonna pay come get the car. the biggest problem happened in new york and florida where the state doesnt penalise the buyers... im not 100% sure on the states but anyway. i remember ppl from the collections department saying how they would ask ppl to pawn their tvs to make a payment that is 4 months late lol.
and at the time i was working there around oct major companies where running around corporate as buyers for the credit department.
they also hit i believe 25% of projected sales for that month ouch!
and they where losing the big guys in corporate to other companies.

I loved my 97 Eclipse GSX, one of the best cars I owned. I never had a problem with it, but I knew of many owners that had problems that Mitsu ignored. I find most of their new cars boring, besides the EVO. The present Eclipse is a fat underpowered V6 cruiser on the Galant platform.

Like many Japanese companies they just don't know how to operate in NA. They came over here in the 80's when they thought they were hot sh--t in manufacturing. They tried to show they knew how to operate they whole business and had know idea. Not that NA companies and others have caught up they are starting to squirm. Some are still doing ok, but many have failed. Yea, I know what I'm talking about, have worked for one of them for 18 years.

Interesting. Toyota and Honda seem to be doing just fine, especially Toyota. Nissan and Mazda are making a pretty good comebacks. Subaru also made some significant in roads in to NA. The Domestics (GM and Ford), on the other hand, aren't exactly doing that great in NA. Losing money left and right is way to run a business, no matter what continent you operate in.
What in particular about Japanese automakers make them less capable to sell in NA?
