I still haven't seen any RX8 drivers post a slip with their 13B-MSP RX8 going under the 13 second mark for the 1/4.

^^^ Yup. I've been looking for that 12 second slip here for 5 long years.

I want somebody to get out there and do it, and then post the slip... somebody, anybody with the a fast turbo 8 who can drive take one damn day and just prove it can be done.

MM said he thinks he ran a 12 something a while ago, but I don't think there's a slip or video. I trust him that he did it, but I'd still like to see somebody than isn't the rx8-turbo-tuning-god do it.

Well, we just don't know.

Again, why couldn't they get anything better than a 13.5 out of the PTP RX8? That thing was about 330whp.

My point is, it seems you can't just say "it's a XXX whp car and it weighs XXXX lbs so it should do XX.X in the quarter" when you're talking about the RX8 the way you can for something like a Mustang or a Camaro.

I bet 380whp in the 3000 lb RX8 will barely get you to the mid 12's where 380whp in a 3750lb GTO can definitely do mid to low 12's (seen it, several times, and can post whatever proof you want to see)... just thinking that the "normal" drag racing equations and comparisons don't apply, but can't know for sure yet because just there isn't enough data out there to figure out what an average 375whp, 350whp, 325whp, 300whp, etc RX8 should be able to do.

its because for the rx8, 380whp doesn't amount to 380ft-lb torque

So you're saying 380whp 13B's can't make 1/4 mile times lower than 13 sec?

Who knows? I'd love to see it happen. Launch and torque are critical in 1/4 mile races.

As for MM...I doubt it. Either he has a slip, or he doesn't. YaX, can you imagine someone on ls1gto or ls1tech saying they think they ran 12's? hehe

Of course 13B's can make a 1/4 in less than 13 seconds, there are simply a lot of OTHER factors which come into play such as the skill level of the driver & if they even slightly misshift or time their shift wrong. In the 1/4 when you're trying to get below xx seconds, any hesitation or f'ck up will cost you & in the end I'm sure someone somewhere with a turbo'd rx-8 has done a 11 or 12. You realize some people out there don't post on the forums, dont want to scan a slip, blah blah blah. The internet isn't the end all, and I'm confident its already been done.

Hey Slayer, this weekend, one of my GTO buddies went down to the track in San Antonio...
Cammed LS1 with headers, stall and 150 shot... did 11.07 at 122mph on a 1.53 60ft. He dynos 500rwhp/600lb-ft on the spray.

He wants that 10 second slip, but they've warned him the last two times out that if he breaks into the 10's or keep getting low 11's, they'll kick him off for no safety equipment. After one run, he basically works on the launch, 60ft, and 1/8 mile, and coasts for the rest of the quarter to keep them off his back.

Dude, just telling you this because I want to see what you can do with a 150 shot! LSx motors love the bottle.

GTO's are also couple hundred pounds heavier than that f-body you have.

Well ia sked my buddy at PTP but he said that when Car and driver test drove it they turned the boost down.. since they really abuse the cars they drive..

He said they trashed thier tranny and had to get a new one the clutch as GONE

Awesome! I'm going to be in the same boat when I spray...guess it'll be time for a wolfe 6 point roll bar so I'm allowed to run better than 11.5.

I'm making some adjustments so I will trap 115 or so N/A...then I feel like I should definitely hit 10's with spray.

Wish we could hit the track together, man.

I used to talk to Jon there... I live in Austin, so I would stop by their shop to see the progress on that 8 they tested in the article. I've sat in that car a couple of times, but never got a ride. That sucks they blew up the tranny and clutch, but it was some really good advertising for PTP. If that's all they could do was mid 13's and they were hammering the car for all it's worth, that's not a good sign, know what I mean?

115mph N/A?!? Hell you have 10's wrapped up with a bow on top. They might make you slap a parachute on the back

It would be fun to race with you guys. Sounds like you have a good thing going out there.
