After putting us into a figure four leglock with the Megane Coupe debut earlier today, Renault inflicts the incapacitating sleeper hold by releasing the single-make race series Mégane Trophy version in Paris today.
Intended to make a radical statement, the Mégane Trophy features the same mechanicals as the current car, including an FIA-homologated sports-prototype tubular chassis, a mid-rear V6 3.5 24V engine, a semi-automatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddle shift, double wishbone suspension with adjustable dampers and 18-inch wheels and Michelin tyres.
With it's roof-mounted air-ducts feeding a new intake manifold, power is increased from 330hp to 360hp. Ensuring the car's reliability, rebuild intervals are carried out every 5,500km. Combined with the aerodynamic gains of the new composite outer skin, the extra power output of the 3.5-liter V6 engine will enable the Mégane Trophy to make lap times close to the Porsche GT3.
At the end of the year, the Mégane Trophy will be available as an upgrade kit for existing cars. However, the modifications required to adapt the chassis to the new bodywork must be carried out by the Alpine factory in Dieppe.
See press release below for more details.

front 3/4 looks good. side view.. looks like every other sport compact on the market...
i had an `83 renault alliance when i was a senior in high school (`91). the car was a p.o.s. Damn thing ate fuel injectors like they were skittles. Dozen other things i can't remember offhand which were also problematic. Finally ended up blowing up the engine on a road trip to PA. Radiator had rusted out somewhere, lost all the anti-freeze on the way home. Thermo never registered it getting hot though. All of a sudden i heard a bang that was so loud i thought i'd been shot and the car started shuddering as if it were going into convulsions (because it was, LOL). The pistons had seized while i was doing around 80. Piston rod broke and since the engine was still running, it was tearing up the inside of the block.
Good times... shitty car... freaking french.
