That time wasn't impossible as anything is only impossible until someone does it. It was very fast but not the record. Impressive nevertheless.
Second and I want everyone to let this fact sink in as some are in denial. MAZDA WILL NEVER BUILD A CAR THAT WILL COMPETE AGAINST THIS!!!!! NEVER!!!! Get over it. They aren't even thinking about it.

I concur with RG. Mazda has in the past never built any high horsepower car. It's not in their philosophy to do so. Mazda's niche is to build lightweight great handling sporty cars.
On the contrary to many ignorant folks out there, the rotary existed in other previous Mazda models that had rear seats.

Maybe Mazda's philosophy should change as the times do since Nissan just built a vehicle that handles superbly and puts out incredible amounts of power at a reasonable production cost.

Jeremy Clarkson from TopGear also said that the Bugatti Veyron will never be made?...how wrong was he..
The current rumor is Mazda are going to build a Furai type rotary super car for 2015!

In short, just because Nissan built a GT-R doesn't mean Mazda needs to do the same.

The GT-R is a very limited edition car. It's a flag ship who's main purpose is to keep Nissan's name in the head of performance enthusiasts. The GT-R will make Nissan more money by helping promote all of their other cars than it will from it's own sales.

Im not disagreeing with you, however the GT-R isnt exactly a super low production car, its historically been relatively common in Japan, not unlike the porsche 911 or the corvette in the states. Mazda has no need to enter into that segment where profit margin is not high, but they better make sure they are competitive vs the 370Z and other cars in the segments they compete against in the near future

how does this make it less abundant? price is the determine factor, and the price of the current GT-R is inline with the previous ones... if anything it would be more abundant because more ignorant people who wants to get looks from others will get it

For everyone's information: There is a dealer in Las Vegas selling these cars at MSRP. There is very little price gouging going on. The dealers that are though... I was quoted for 95k for one sitting on a lot here in Bergen County, NJ. A demo car too...

Though they do play on words with alot of USA cars, Clarkson does own a Ford GT and raves about it. I think they more or less put down the common american car, they did like the viper, Z06, Ford GT, etc.

Etc.
He just doesn't like America much. Or maybe he does and just wants to make British people laugh.
Being half British myself I don't really mind.

Face it. There isn't very many good cars available in the U.S. If there were, then people wouldn't be buying Toyota, Honda or, in out case, Mazda. In the Vetts case, it was built for the american road system. Not the british or european roads. It's no wonder that they don't like the car.

Did own one I believe, but it broke down so much that he got rid of it and bought the Lamborghini.
