Chassis code is SE3P despite the VIN having FE in it (unlike the RX-7 which had matching chassis and VIN)

No where on the Australian spec RX-8's does one see SE3P..

On our Manufacturers ID plate there is FE, and also stamped on the bulk head (firewall), just below windscreen is the JMOFE1031...... or Series II JMOFE1032.......where it is then painted over

I suggest on US Spec RX-8's the same applies, can anyone see SE3P?

This has been debated many times. Take a look at this thread:

As an ex Mazda Parts Manager here in Australia in the mid 70's, 80,s and early 90's, ALL I repeat ALL Spare Parts and also Service Bulletins (TSB's) use the Chassis Number to Identify the Mazda Model and Build Info from the Chassis Number that is stamped on the Bulk Head..or fire wall.

So here and the US the RX-8 is known as an FE1031 and FE1032 (Series II).

When information required to identify a TSB from a Service stand point the Bulletins ALL refer to the FE1031.....

When information is required by the Spare Parts salesperson on your car (particularly to exactly identify a change in production of a NON Interchangeable part ) again the Chassis Number on the bulk head is the only reference we need.

NOTHING ELSE....

The SE3P has NO reference outside of Japan for Identifying any RX-8.
