- May not have another chance to drive this kind of car until I'm old
This was a big one for me. Be young, irresponsible and have fun.

Don't be so sure about the TL reliability. Check Acura's recent history with Trannys, etc. The old Honda Motor Co just ain't what she used to be.

I haven't checked the 0-60 times for the TL, but I figured it should be somewhat faster with 270hp and more torque... at least it feels faster during the test drive. (could be the torque) But it's also heavy and there's a lot of torque steer, esp in a FWD.

It is faster, unless you're a 0-60 mag racer then they're about the same.

So true.

Rx-8 looks cooler, has a rotary, and is an actual sports car. TL is a great car but its simply much more boring and less sporty.

Before considering the TL I'd get the Mazda 6s - with a CAI intake, MAF customizer and Headers, you probably end up with 250hp easily, but for less money and the 6s is not as heavy as the TL.

Could you explain what you mean? Or maybe just how you define faster...because I'm just saying what I've read, and you're taking a cheap shot.

Well I damn near bought the TL.

Then I checked the internet and went to another dealer. The Dealer said the TL is too new with too many changes in it and it has reliability problems.

Ummmmm that explains the bad rating on the internet.

Oh! so that's the reason why the Aura dealer never told me the truth about the TSC light...
Reliability issues.. I could not shut it off on two TL's I test drove....

Damn too bad. Honda makes god cars....

I really wanted to get more of asports car anyhow, especially the feel.

Get RX8 while you have a chance. Plenty of time to drive family cars in your life.

They run low 14s in the 1/4 with a good driver and trap around 100mph which means once you get up to speed the TL is pulling away from the RX-8, hence faster.

So wait a second, you are comparing the 8 with the old TL? then claiming that the 8 is faster than the new TL because of those results?

Nevermind, I looked at that site and there is no 04+ TL so you are comparing the old one. I don't think we need Ike for a negative two cents in this case, because it is clearly pretty stupid. You are assuming that two cars, with similar weights and similar power are the same speed. Apparently you can see no real difference. Did you look at gear ratios? weight distribution? tyres? power and torque curves?

haha, yeah cas2themoe deleted it. He must have feared your wrath. He was commenting on your idea that the TL is faster, mentioned that you will probably say something negative about what he is going to say, then proceeded to compare the 8 to the old 3.2tl type S which the 8 beats to 130 mph by 3 seconds according to some website. He then extrapolated that this should hold true for the new tl because they have similar peak power and weight and could not understand your claims based on his comparison

I deleted it because this thread was to compare the new TL not the Old to the RX8 and I didn't want to start another mess of vs. wars! And the specs came from Road and Track if you really want to look at them. And yes the RX8 got to 130mph faster, in fact 3.4 seconds faster than the 2002 Acura 3.2TL Type S.(So Says Road and Track) And Ike I don't need to prove you wrong. I don't need to make other people feel wrong just to make myself feel better. LIKE YOU DO! You were most likely picked on a lot as a kid. Its ok........... and the said thing is, its not that your TRYING to prove other people wrong. Its the way you say things. I bet people call you "Mr. Know it all" all the time!

Ok, so 0-60 RX-8 may be faster (from the mags), and 0-100 Acura is faster. Well, next time you're driving around going 0-100 as fast as you can, let me know
