I say that stock vs. stock
RX-8 wins.
Why?
Because its practical, at the same time handles, performers and stops very good.
The S2000 is a faster and handles a tad bit better, but the RX8 is like 98% of the S2K in terms of performance, but has 2more seats and a better sound system, while being more practical with more features.
Only problem with our cars is that they suck gas and drain oil.
A problem with the S2K if you ignore practicality is that you have to be in VTEC to experience power or its like a civic with the top off.

That's a pretty good summary, however, it only works if you are looking for a daily driver and fun summer/weekend car at the same time. As a second car for weekend/summer fun, the S2000 wins hands down. Two ways to look at it I guess.

I can't really explain it but it does sound really loud and crazy for a stock car. But then againit is a 2.0 four banger pushing 240HP. I still cannot get over that for a NA four banger stock. Oh, and my 8 feels like I'm sitting in a lazy boy after riding around in the S2000 for a coupleof hours.

I think it has. The car has been out 4 years longer remember. I compare my former 01's interior to my 06. NIGHT AND DAY. They really improved it with the little things, and IMO the S2000 interior is perfect for the car itself. It's not over the top, and offers exactly what you need for a weekend/fun car. Nothing fancy, yet, nothing cheap.

maybe it's just where i am in life now, but to me, the S2000 was never a contender when it came to buying a car this time. i respect them. i like them a lot! however, until my stable is fun and i have time/money just tinker with something for the hell of it, i can't see myself buying one.

To me S2000 >>> RX-8.
1) Better handling
2) Much lively engine. Much better in LA traffic. Heck, even my RSX Type-S was better than the 8 in bad traffic.
3) Better seating position, no more seat belt creeping up to my neck
4) Better shifter
5) Convertible top
6) Gorgeous looks
7) Awesome gas mileage (22+ vs 13 mpg) - same traffic, roads, routes, driving style
If the S2000 came with stability control for the 05 model, I would never have bought the RX-8.
Don't get me wrong, the RX-8 is a great fun car. Was not just for me...

If DSC is the reason why you didn't buy the car, maybe you should re-consider about driving sports cars

The S2000 is a better sports car, the RX8 is a more practical year round car. You can't make this thread and expect every single person to show blind bias towards the RX8. There is some objectivity on this site. It's not all 100% partiality. Most of the time people on here don't wanna hear it, but threads like this keep it real, so you weren't dumb for making this thread. If you want to swing a car in the RX8's favor fully, next time compare the RX8 to a lesser vehicle, so you don't regret making the thread.
