RX8 = M3 = 350z
Couple of days ago I came across a thread by another member in here ( I cant find it now) that posted this link of Top Gear that reviewed an RX8 and at the end compared it with a 350z and an M3. It's an awesome video that made me fall in love with my car even more.
Some of you may be familiar with the show....they basically review cars and at the end of the show this guy named Stig, thats always wearing a helmet, takes the car on a race track and tries to get the best time of them.
If you go to this link it shows all the track times and these are the times for the 3 cars.
And these are the specs for the 3 cars:
RX8 - 1,389 kg
1.3L 238 HP
350z - 1543 kg
3.5L V6 300hp
M3 - 1549 kg
3.2 L I6 333hp
Now I can safely conclude my Turbo RX8 will kick the **** out of an 350z & M3 anyday!
discuss.

TopGears test track favors cars that turn well. As a matter of fact it is almost just one set of twisties for the longest of times. As much as i would want to believe the RX-8 is equal to the M3 i know it is not.
Doesn't matter to me though because the biggest difference is driver skills, not the car we drive. A professional race driver would beat you on a track with an obsolete underpowered old car, even if you have a turboed RX-8.

the m3 is a kick-*** car, but driver skills or not, the price tag and t.c.o. are very high. plus, i don't really like the stigma attached to the m3. (the term m3 ***** comes to mind?)
i honestly don't think that u have to spend big bucks to have a fun, great-performing car. the rx-8 is a great bang for the buck. and, after you buy it u still have some money left over for other things.

When I went to visit my brother about 6 months ago, he introduced me to a guy with a GT40R turbo'd M3 (got to ride in it, too!). Next time I'm down there, I'll have to tell him, "Hey, you can't turbo an M3!!!"

The same can be said for Motortrend,Autoweek, Road & Track, etc. They test cars everyday, hot, cold, sun or rain. So what is your point?
Fact : The RX-8 posted exact times that the 350Z and BMW M3 did on the same track by a PROFESIONAL DRIVER . -Can't argue with the video and test results that show proof of what all 3 cars did.
Yes a 350Z and a M3 would walk a RX-8 on the long strait away...but depending on your skill , you may get walked in the twisties by these two cars as well.

You guys are obviously not familiar with the "fuego" button equipped on our 8's. it's located under the steering column right beside the ball bearings. If this button is pressed right after you pass 60mph, it will add another 75whp. I aint skeered of no M3.

let me put on my flame suit but
turbo an M3 .... why?
Nothing against turbos, but I'm REALLY starting to believe that's becoming a fad. I'm not saying NA or SC is better (turbos are good with the right application and tuning as with anything else), it's just I see a growing trend of people saying "you want more power, you HAVE TO GO TURBO". Like the 350Z. Does it really need a TT setup (or FI period), or did someone decide that they would do a TT setup to make it just like the 300Z TT and stick with tradition. I see pretty much the same thing with the 8. "It should of came stock with a turbo." Why? "Because the RX-7 was turbo". And I'm sure people would FREAK OUT if an EVO or STi came out NA even if they found a way to make them 300hp without the snail.
As far as that comparo, the 8, 350, and M3 were pretty much equal for that environment. Given different environments, one will outshine the other.
