350z.JsTyLez, sorry I fussed. We get an inordinate amount of people on here trying to cause issues, and I get defensive rather quickly now. You have a very nice car- great pictures!

I think that the first reference in automotive journalism to the "space pod" look was directed at my other car, the Lexus RX300. Not sure which mag started it. To me, most of the current Toyota/Lexus/Honda/Nissan/Infiniti have the space thing going for/against them. It's the result of smoothing out the sheet metal and integrating the lights into the shape. It's one of the reason's that I love my 8 - Mazda had the guts to make a bold design with abrupt shaping.

I was debating between the s2000 and the 350Z. Then the rx8 came into the picture. I'm more into a unique looking car, and the RX8 is just that. I never see them on the road and when I do... I give a double take on how good the car looks in motion. I sometimes forget that i'm in one myself.

All the cars mention are great vechicles and i'm not here to bash any of them. I guess when it came down to the nitty gritty. The 8 did it for me.

Just had the opportunity to check out and drive the 350Z, my impressions were:

Looks:
- nice build quality, excelent and more decent looking lether work than in the 8
- nice dash, with kind of extravagant feel to it
- more quality feel for the money overall

Drive:
- similar acceleration (lower RPM, but dosn't really bother)
- better brake feel (8's has a soft grip point)
- stiffer suspension (better on the track)

I drove the Z on a race track (delaer organised promotional event) which I know well. The Z did not feel any heavier than the 8, cornered well. I was a bit faster overall than with the 8.

I'm really surprised how could so many people overlook the obvious advantages of this car over the 8? Yes the 8 has a few pros, but If I could get a 350Z for the price of my 8, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to make the deal.

Unfortunately the Z is way more expensive than the 8 in our country.

It's called blind loyalty / fanboy'ism / defending your choice retroactively

There is a lot of it here. There are a lot of people on this board (like a lot of car forums) unwilling to discuss the car's relative shortcomings.

That's strange Megauo, I test drove the Z on two occasions and I disagree with you on virtually every point you made.

Sometimes bias and lack of perspective are confused. So you have to ask yourself, is it bias or lack of perspective in you that is leading you to some weird conclusions?

I hope you are joking about the build quality and more "decent" looking leather than the 8..

You like the dash in the Z better? It looks like a kid with his first lego set designed it.

More quality for the money? LOL.

Disagree on both points. Acceleration feels faster in the 8, although the Z is definately accelerating faster.

disagree on the brakes too.

I dont disagree with the above, the Z is marginally better, but both cars suck on the track.

sorry friend, the Z feels like a bus through the corners.

I just don't get it all. If you wanted a Z, you should have bought a Z. My point being, your spending $30,000US+ on something. Whatever that something is, you should be completely happy with it, not saying I should have bought something else. All of us here could have afforded a Z, WRX, Evo, maybe a 3 series or G35 Coupe. But we decided to get the 8 for whatever reason. Be happy.

Well, not quite. There are quite a number of us who can afford only up to the 6MT sports package (yours truly). At this price point (~$26k), the RX8 is a very attractive proposition, if you factor in insurance costs as well.

Well, at $26 you could get a Z still, it would be the base model, but a Z nonetheless. I hear you about the insurance costs tho, especially in MA. I might have been to blanket with my statement. The point I was trying to make is that all those cars are in the same approx price range. Also the other point I was trying to make was that of not spending many many thousands of dollars and not be happy with what you got. Settling for a 27 inch TV instead of 32 inch is one thing. But when you are spending $26k-$30ishk is another.

Ok I will be the first to admit. I could have gotten the Z for about $5k less than the 8. But I just thought the 8 was a "cooler" car to get.

Well, that and whatever it was during my test drives in both cars that made me favor the 8 over the Z.

Don't get me wrong, I never said the Z was a bad car by any means. I just preferred the 8.

And just because I don't have a Z doesn't mean I know nothing about the car either.

My commute to work is one hour each way. After riding on a Z, I just don't think I can live with the harsh ride.

No two seaters! Z is out. Besides... a '05 Mustang will be faster than a Z and cheaper! Handling is TBD... gotta see reviews and try it myself. A 2005 Legacy turbo is in the middle of this price range and will likely be one to contend with. An awesome sleeper with gorgeous looks.

I guess I thought this was a discussion group, to DISCUSS, and you should not be expected to conform to only one point of view, It may be right the 8 could be the best car in existence, Or more probably it might be the best car for some people. a good car for others and the worst cars for some. Why is it wrong to discuss things in a discussion group?

There is nothing wrong with discussing or having an opinion. I never said the Z was a bad car, all I'm saying is that if you decided one way or the other, be happy with your choice. I would feel terrible if I spent this kind of money on something and I wasn't happy with it.

z is an awesome car, but I needed 4 doors and storage space for the many moves I will be doing. Getting a unique sports car, awesome engine, ride, handling, features on top of that, is the icing on the cake!!!!
