I was debating between the s2000 and the 350Z. Then the rx8 came into the picture. I'm more into a unique looking car, and the RX8 is just that. I never see them on the road and when I do... I give a double take on how good the car looks in motion. I sometimes forget that i'm in one myself.
All the cars mention are great vechicles and i'm not here to bash any of them. I guess when it came down to the nitty gritty. The 8 did it for me.

Just had the opportunity to check out and drive the 350Z, my impressions were:
Looks:
- nice build quality, excelent and more decent looking lether work than in the 8
- nice dash, with kind of extravagant feel to it
- more quality feel for the money overall
Drive:
- similar acceleration (lower RPM, but dosn't really bother)
- better brake feel (8's has a soft grip point)
- stiffer suspension (better on the track)
I drove the Z on a race track (delaer organised promotional event) which I know well. The Z did not feel any heavier than the 8, cornered well. I was a bit faster overall than with the 8.
I'm really surprised how could so many people overlook the obvious advantages of this car over the 8? Yes the 8 has a few pros, but If I could get a 350Z for the price of my 8, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to make the deal.
Unfortunately the Z is way more expensive than the 8 in our country.

There is a lot of it here. There are a lot of people on this board (like a lot of car forums) unwilling to discuss the car's relative shortcomings.

That's strange Megauo, I test drove the Z on two occasions and I disagree with you on virtually every point you made.
Sometimes bias and lack of perspective are confused. So you have to ask yourself, is it bias or lack of perspective in you that is leading you to some weird conclusions?

You like the dash in the Z better? It looks like a kid with his first lego set designed it.
More quality for the money? LOL.

disagree on the brakes too.

I just don't get it all. If you wanted a Z, you should have bought a Z. My point being, your spending $30,000US+ on something. Whatever that something is, you should be completely happy with it, not saying I should have bought something else. All of us here could have afforded a Z, WRX, Evo, maybe a 3 series or G35 Coupe. But we decided to get the 8 for whatever reason. Be happy.

Well, that and whatever it was during my test drives in both cars that made me favor the 8 over the Z.
Don't get me wrong, I never said the Z was a bad car by any means. I just preferred the 8.
And just because I don't have a Z doesn't mean I know nothing about the car either.

No two seaters! Z is out. Besides... a '05 Mustang will be faster than a Z and cheaper! Handling is TBD... gotta see reviews and try it myself. A 2005 Legacy turbo is in the middle of this price range and will likely be one to contend with. An awesome sleeper with gorgeous looks.

There is nothing wrong with discussing or having an opinion. I never said the Z was a bad car, all I'm saying is that if you decided one way or the other, be happy with your choice. I would feel terrible if I spent this kind of money on something and I wasn't happy with it.

z is an awesome car, but I needed 4 doors and storage space for the many moves I will be doing. Getting a unique sports car, awesome engine, ride, handling, features on top of that, is the icing on the cake!!!!
