What does the thread title have to do with your problem? How do you know your cat was about to go? Year, mileage, AT or MT, last time coils and plugs were replaced? Have you checked for the obvious (vacuum leaks, gerbil stuck in the intake. etc.) things?

The car doesn't say 'exhaust leak' it gives a code.

.....and what would that code be?

Mine does the exact same thing...

I just bought an 04, 6port, 6spd, Manual last week and the engine chokes out around 4000 rpm as well.

I ran a diagnostic and it showed codes for IAT circuit high input(P0113) , MAF sensor High and low input signal(P0102-P0103) , and TP sensor 1 and 2 High input signal(P0123-P0223)

I thought all these problems were being triggered from the MAF sensor so I went to replace it.

When I looked in the plastic connector that is ribbed that connects the Air filter and the Throttle body there was some liquid pooled up in there. (I thought maybe this was Throttle body cleaner the kid I bought the car from had maybe used to try to fix the problem [subsequently ruining the MAF sensor] before i bought the car???)

I cleaned it out the liquid and replaced the MAF sensor but the problem comes back after I drive for about 20-30 minutes after startup.

Any thoughts???

I got the car for a really cheap Price so If problems persist I may just sell it to someone else to break even. Or send it off to the auto auction this week
