and I heard Z owners eat puppies...

Seriously, who cares? I agree the competition between the companies is a good thing, but to insult each other over who's car is best??? kinda pointless I think. Unless you own something along the lines of a McLaren F1 it would probably be best to keep your fool mouth shut because someone out there owns something better than you.

BTW I think the 8 will take the F1... anyone want to test it?

Actually the 8's interior is better looking-that's why I bought it over the F1 instead.

Driven both.

My take on it….

The 350 is a faster car guys, get over it… BUT I found the RX8 to be a little more inspiring and is a much more balanced “sports car”

350Z

Pros:

- Good Power and Tq
- Some say the interior is cheap but I rather like it
- Good Handler
- Wanna get a rise out of people? Drive this damn car… seriously, it was a riot to see how a car could bring out the best and the worst of total strangers….. I was giggling my *** off the whole time.

Con:

- Clutch?…. hated it, theres something about it that just doesn’t feel right.
- Shifter?…. hated it…. Too clunky, its not smooth and it fights back too much

All in all… I liked it, but wouldn’t buy it…. If I were in the market for a 50K (cdn) 2 seater sports car I’d get a S2K over a Z in a heart beat.

RX8

Pros:

- Smooth revving engine
- Better handling than the Z, IMHO and nice quick steering
- I loved the shifter… nice and short… and the clutch felt just right.
- Has a back seat.
- Exhilarating drive

Con:

- Not enough power.. sure. But its fine for regular ownership… the only time the power deficit will get on your nerves is at the track.

All in all… I liked it as well… wouldn’t compare it to the Z as it is too different. it would be a car I would actually buy due to personal taste and life circumstance.

I am fond of many cars out there, but what it all comes down to for me is.....does Ford Motor Co. own it? This is why I took the RX-8 (I also love it) Being a muscle car owner I get some ribbing for owning an "import racer", but I just reply I love cars of all types..as long as Ford owns the company :D

from owning a Rx8 to a S2000, i got a chance to drive a Z recently a few times. First off, i have to say the Z is a fast car no doubt about that. Lots of torque and hp. The shifter felt soft and not precise, and the clutch felt somewhat awkward as in soft. Handling wise, i think the Rx8 and S2000 own in that department. the Rx8 and S2k have more precise shifting and interior quality is there for the S2k and Rx8..more so to the S2k. not to knock down the Z, but it felt heavy and not as tossable as the other two cars..
To me a Rx8 is like a 4 door S2000. Cant go wrong either ways...

i Cant wait until we get some of these 300+ whp 8s out there to really shut the z owners up. i know a 350hp 8 is still not gonna beat a 400hp turbo z but who really cares thats more than enough to smoke a stock or mildy upgraded z. the 8 is tunable it just takes alittle more time and effort. that time and effort are paying off for SFR and PTP as well as some of these custome jobs. Itll take some time to change this "slow" image(even thought we are not slow...not blazing fast but still quick) but itll change and i honestly cant wait for that time.

It'll still have the "slow image" until the car in stock form is made faster. Take an SC300 for instance, not very fast cars, but there are several out there with 400+ whp (even some with close to 1000whp), that doesn't change the fact that the SC300 is still a slow car.

Rofl, I was just thinking the same thing. Nobody cares how big your **** is and nobody's going to respect a tuned car beating a stock car in its own class. If any of you guys bought an 8 to beat Zs in straight line performance, then you bought the wrong car. The 8's more practical and it's more fun to drive in many people's opinions. It might not go as fast, but it avoids many of the pitfalls of a typical sportscar.

I've had my share of fast cars. I find the rx8 fast enough for daily use. It's not like I'm trying to relive my youth or feel the need to compensate for anything by driving a really fast car. The 8 is by far the best handling car I've ever driven,and that comes into play much more than speed alone. If I choose not to renew my contract I'll probably end up back in Chicago, so the 8 will most likely have to go.

Butttt...no stock supercharger and no stock 400 horsepower. Therein lies the dilemma. :p I'd like to drive one sometime, never driven a really torquey car such as that.

Isn't that true! I am glad the car market is even allowing car makers like Mitsu & Subaru to pump cars like the Evo & STi. I can't wait to pick a used one in a couple of years. Heck, I may even pick up a 350Z or something. Its GOOD to have options.
