The RX-7 will be a springboard for a roadster, and a fun one at that I'll bet

Now I just have to find it...knew I should have bookmarked it.

Before I did any test drives before buying my Miata, the S2000 was #1 on my list. I decided against it because it felt slower off the line than the Miata, and was insanely loud and harsh above 6k (lots of fun though!). I hated the digital speedo, and the handling made me feel like I was on a knife's edge whenever I pushed it. The back end scared me a bit, and I thought I'd probably be worried I'd end up in a ditch if I bought one. The noise with the top up is worse than in a Miata as well, particularly if you get into the sweet spot of the engine. It's an awesome machine, but I just didn't enjoy my test drives all that much. If I could have one as a second car, I'd *love* to have one, but it was just too hardcore for me as a 20,000 mile a year car.
Not having driven a 350Z, I can only guess at what it's like. Based on the reviews I've read, while the suspension is pretty harsh, it doesn't sound like it has that insane racket that the S2000 does. Given that I value light, nimble and agile far more than I value straight line performance, I'd probably enjoy the S2000 more when I was driving aggressively.
I'd probably choose the S2000 if it was a toy car, and the 350Z for a daily driver. Again, not having driven the Z, it's tough to really say.

I posted this poll, the EVO vs. STI poll and a poll on the RX8 vs. G35 on this board, evolutionm.net and s2ki.com to see how the owners of each car saw these comparisons. I did not post the comparison involving that boards car for obvious reasons.
The results:
EVO Vs. STI
s2ki 19 (57%) EVO, 17 (43%) STI
rx8forum 10 (50%) EVO 10 (50%) STI
S2000 Vs. 350Z Coupe/Roadster
rx8forum: 21 (75%) S2K 7 (25%) 350Z
evolutionm: 5 (26%) S2K 14 (74%) 350Z
G35 Vs. RX8
s2ki: 57 (77%) G35 17 (23%) RX8
evolutionm: 14 (50%) G35 14 (50%) RX8
Analysis:
What I can see from this is that the EVO owners and the RX8 owners see the other car roughly the same against their closest competitor. The S2000 owners like the EVO, but the EVO owners hate the S2K. The S2K owners like the EVO, but the EVO owners hate the S2K. The RX8 owners love theS2K, but the S2K owners hate the RX8!
The results were a bit surprising to me as I would have thought they would have come out the same as my thinking. EVO, S2K and RX8 would win because they were the more nimble, tossable and fun cars.

I voted for the S2000 simply because I haven't driven the 350z convertible yet (I have driven the coupe). Appearance-wise, I think the Nissan is better looking. The s2k will be revised for 2003, however.

Of those 2... I'd take the S2000. When shopping for a new car in Febuary, the Z coupe was way to plastic-y on the inside for me, with alot of wasted space. I liked the S2000, but not enough to spend an extra $10-15k on it over a Miata.
