Saw A Maybach Today
Today when I was on my lunch brake I saw a Maybach 57 sitting outside. At first I thought it was regular S Class, but upon closer inspection I realized it was the super-expensive Maybach.
I was stunned to see it, but after the shock went away I realized how entirely unimpressed I actually was. When you see a Ferrari or Rolls you get really excited about it and want to tell people about it, but with the Maybach it didn't really impress me.
For everyone who criticizes it for its lack of prestige they are absolutely right. The average joe probably wouldn't even know it was anything special. It isn't really an attention grabber.
Enough putting the car down. For all its unimpressivenss it was pretty cool. The M's on the xenon bulb was a nice touch and the TVs in the seatbacks was remarkable. The seats did look comfy as all hell and the retractable curtain in the back window was another clue that this isn't a run of the mill car. The headlights were amazingly intricate and the huge intercooler was something most people wouldn't notice. The wood and leather of the interior was some of the most amazing stuff I have ever seen in a car.
Another styling aspect that I was less than thrilled about was the tail. It was droopy and didn't fit the car well at all. It is hard to explain, but there was a gap between the trunk lid and rear that looked out of place. The picture below might help you to better understand what I am trying to say.
I saw the car in Jamestown, Rhode Island in front of Conanicut Marina, for those (few people) familiar with the area.
Sorry for the misalliance post, but I thought some of you guys might be interested in the sighting. And no, I don’t have any picture because I was at work, sorry.
