It is a very good looking car with good 0-60 time and a nice price point but it has many warts just as its sibling the Solarise dose. Here is a list of them in no particular order.

- The car weights as much as the RX-8, for a two seater this is not good. The Miata weights 400 lbs less.

- There is no storage at all in this car. If you open the truck there is a large bulge right in the middle which takes up most the space. I believe 2 CuFt was quoted as the size and it would have to be 2 CuFt of socks because no suite case can fit in the ill shaped trunk.

- The car is not nimble for a sports car of its class.

- It has very poor ergonomics inside, many have writen about how hard this car is to live with.

- 1st year GM product = more bugs then a roach motel.

You know, that BMW that is in the same class as both the s2k, and the miata, looks quite good.

Go ahead and buy it, if you can handle a two seater.

It is definitely a good looking car, and like the RX-8, will be stylish for years to come. But wtf is up with a manual top and that display on the radio?? Looks cheap and outdated.. like an early generation digital watch with poor backlighting. Now I just want to know how it drives..

Wake up and smell the new millenium there sparky. Hyundai's rank high in initial quality than Mazda and most other car brands now. What you just said is the same thing people used to say about Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and Datsun/Nissan.

I looked at the Sky before I bought the 8. It is a beautiful car but only 2 cubic feet of storage with the top down. I also did not like the way the front bumper and side body parts are attached to the plastic inner wheel well, looked chincy.

While doing a google search I found out the Sky is the most looked up car on something like gay.net. Sooo, if I like the Sky, am I gay???

Those things are going on Ebay for well into the mid 30s!! You can buy several sport cars..."proven" sport cars for 30 to 35 k!!

And they always say never buy the first year of a car...

If everyone followed that axiom, the 8 wouldn't be here.

They won't stay in the mid 30's for long.

And the Redline/GXP are more like versions 1.5, anyway.

Am i the only person who read the article comparing the Soltice against the new miata on Grassroots Motorsports? They gave both cars a custom alignment and ran the two cars on the tirerack autocross course and the soltice was faster (marginaly). Obviously this is stock for stock and you need an alignment but it still shows that the car has *****. I dont know about the quality of the cars so i can't really comment on that.

Frankly. I like the saturn more than the pontiac but I still would wait for the new miata killer BMW is making (turbo 4 cylinder Z1) or for the mazdaspeed MX-5 if that comes out.

This is the first time in my life where I've been in a car and had 20 or so random women yell "hey sexy", and "nice car" in a 10 minute drive. That's one women per 30 seconds. The car looks like an exotic to non-car people. And it sounds good too (for the non redline). It is the most beautiful car I've seen in person (on the road, not in car shows). People love the car.

Kinda like Holden, eh?

I almost bought this car before I got the GTO. I simply couldn't fit into the Sky. I'm 6'4" and it was like a sardine can. It would be a fun car. Not practical at all, but fun.

At least give credit to GM for making cars people actually get excited about. That's a hell of a lot more than Ford can say.

You know, if ford brought over their australian line (falcon) and maybe their european focus, people actually might get excited. Ok, the US likes V8's, but seriously, we're not retarded. We know a turbo V6 or I4 can push out some serious power. It may not have the V8 grunt, but honestly, how many V8 cars does 1 company need?

I havent driven the sky or solstice, and i cant stand the look of the solstice w/o the GXP kit and even with it, it's kinda pushing it, but i am glad to see that they have something worthwhile on the road. The sky looks great, but it may be a bit small (i'm 6'2" myself). I'd have to drive one to find out.

Well my feet were flat on the firewall/footwell in the passenger seat (that's with no pedals to be in the way) and I'm 5' 10" so..... for room, it's not big at all. Still sexy, very impracticle, but oh so sexy. I could only imagine the fun in a Redline. If Mazda put out a new Mazdaspeed Mx-5, then I'd be all over Mazda, but I think the Solstice/Sky roadsters in their GXP/Redline packages will far surpass the miata if MAzda doesn't do something(performance wise) soon.

Then again the new retractible hardtop miatas will give Mazda another edge too.

If I were in the market for a 2-seat roadster right now, I'd be hard-pressed to pick between the SKY Redline and Solstice GXP based on looks and stats.

I saw a Sky in person last weekend and I won't lie, it's damn sexy. And chicks dig convertibles. But if they're marked up to $30k? Yikes. And the motor for the redline version is substantially new, as in no aftermarket for a while, yes? Considering the price/impracticality...I'd probably see if I couldn't find a Factory Five Cobra for sale, and then have a high-mileage Toyota beater. Either that, or wait for a Mazdaspeed Miata.

Speaking of which, didn't I read somewhere on this forum where someone high up at Mazda says no more turbos? Also, how can the base model Sky/Solstice be faster around a track than the NC when it has a substantially worse power/weight ratio? Does it come from the factory with a really soft suspension or something?

I read it and it doesn't show it has ***** as much as it has the potentiel to handle really well. At least in autox... Keep in mind that the Solstice is slower than the MX-5 yet it still beat it around an autox course where the Miata is really supposed to shine. Not bad.
