The Sky is a pretty sexy car... nice that GM has finally put out a car that has gotten people excited... a car that actually has a long waiting list of people waiting to buy one.
As was mentioned in the GTO thread recently and in a few other threads. Not every one lives in or near twisties. And as pointed out above about the Grassroots Motorsports article... this car can handle. Actually the car mags never said it doesn't... just that the MX-5 did it better.
Sadly the annoying manual top and lack of trunk space are major drawbacks... especially since this car is already a two seater.
The MX-5... looks are subjective, but it looks more "soft" to me... definitely not sexy. The new retractable hardtop and storage space do give this car a substantial edge over the Solstice/Sky though... particularly in my book as I am not a lover of convertible cars, nor two seaters. I also found the MX-5 cramped when I sat in one at the auto show...
Anyway... if the Sky Reline suits you... you fit, no issues with the lack of storage space and such... then get one. It's your car.

i refuse to buy anoter america made car.. they are all crap and will remain crap until serious improvements are made. i don't like disposable cars. i also don;t liek car made with the cheapest componets possible form the lowest bidder, and then being charged a premium for it.

The motor may have had some tweaks, but it's been around for a while (Saab). It uses a Bosch ecu, so cracking the code should take a couple of weeks .

I almost wrecked when I saw one going down the road the other day. It's a beautiful car IMO. Wait until you see one in person before you judge.
As for the performance, the base Sky/Solstice gave the MX5 all it could handle from a stop and on a road course. Mazda won't be able to compete with the Redline without some sort of FI.

Guess who makes your wiper, window, etc. motors? Probably the same company as the US companies. I know for fact that one JAPANESE supplier supplies them for both US and Japanese companies. Wanna bet on how many other components are of similar status? In the Japan-built RX-8, in Honda Accords, in Toyota Camrys...

You'll be waiting a long time on a Mazdaspeed Mx-5 that could compete. There's currently no FI in the Miata's future, according to Mazda. The S2000 is very nice, if very dated. The Sky's a well built, well optioned car for a good price. It has it's limitations, but then all cars do. And it's hard to beat factory turbo, when modding.

I saw a mag that compared two seat convertables and the Pontiac Solstice GTP was faster around the track than some cars that I would have bet would beat it. I did not buy the mag and I cannot remember the details. I realy like the way the sky looks and it should be a lot of fun to drive
PS, Is anyone other than me glad that Zeblien got banned? He is just an a**.

Buy a Sky Redline or a Solstice GXP if you're a 40-something guy who needs a reward and something to look good in while he cruises to the nearest tanning salon.
Buy a S2000 if you're a true car enthusiast who want car that performs, with none of the sissy stuff.
