Exclamation Sirius Satellite Post Installation

I just purchased a new 2006 RX-8 and alrady own a Siruis Starmate that I removed from my crappy Hyundai (Forced to purchase in an emergency and am now selling) and I am looking for help with how to mount the actual display unit.

Idealy I would like to know if the RX Bose System has an Audio Jack on the back or somewhere where I can use that rather than the FM modulator. If not I am ok with the using the FM Modulator but then I just really need to know where anyone has mounted their display unit in this new car. I don't need assistance with the Antena or any of the wire runs, but where and how to mount this unit is killing me.

PLEASE HELP!

Bringing this one back from the dead. Bump for the direct Audio Jack question. I have the Sportster and I HATE using the FM modulator...

(Don't get mad at me because this is in the wrong place I didn't start it I just brought it back!)

I just purchased an '04 GT and also have a Starmate 4 that I want to use. In my old '01 Maxima, I had a USA Spec iPod interface behind the dash with the iPod in my center console and the Starmate custom mounted along the top vent.

So I've ordered a DICE iPod interface for the 8, which has an aux input that the Starmate can connect to. I plan to try and custom install the Starmate behind the ashtray door (I don't smoke and don't need two power ports, so I'd likely hardwire the Starmate power behind the dash and lose the cigarette lighter).

There are several units to choose from for the iPod interface, and the most popular on here seems to be the Audiolink unit. However, two big flaws in the Audiolink pushed me toward the DICE unit. One is that the iPod and Aux are fed off of one cable, which splits about a third of the way up, so if I want my iPod in the center console, I need to extend the cable out and then run the aux all the way back behind the dash, which is a waste of cable. Most unit have separate plugs for the iPod and the aux.

Secondly, the Audiolink does not have switching between the two inputs like most other units have, so if your iPod and your Starmate are on, they'll both feed over the speakers. To switch between them, you'd have to turn them on and off directly.

This and the cable design is just bad engineering and, despite the otherwise excellent characteristics of the Audiolink, if you're going to use the aux input at all I'd choose something else.

Good stuff! Be sure to post some pics and a DIY if you get the sirius hardwired into the ashtray. I don't use it either.

I just use the FM. I mounted the head unit on the middle heat vent. I'll post a pic later.
