SKYACTIV-G 2.5 for the CX-5?

Okay fine, I was wrong. Apparently the SKYACTIV-G 2.5 engine does indeed officially exist, according to today's threads about the debut of the new Mazda6.

Thing is, I was literally going to go work out numbers with a salesman tonight for a CX-5. Now... I dunno. So come on you Mazda experts and insiders, what do you see happening with the CX-5 and the SKYACTIV-G 2.5?

1) Is it coming at all for the CX-5? I know the diesel is coming, but the CX-5 diesel actually exists in other countries. The CX-5 2.5G doesn't exist yet. Are they likely to create it and bring it to the US? Or will the diesel(s) fill that role?

2) When would it arrive if it comes?

3) Is it likely to only be available with the Grand Touring Trim? That seems to be what Mazda has done in the past with the old Mazda3 and Mazda6.

4) What would the price premium be for the engine (versus the 2.0 at the same trim)?

5) What would the mileage drop from the 2.0G to the 2.5G be?

I have doubts that the 2.5 will be going into the CX-5 any time soon. Perhaps mid-life revised CX-5 in a few years. The Sky-D is definitely going to be the higher level engine option other than the 2.0 G, and I don't see how it would be economically feasible for Mazda to throw in a third engine option.

I see three engine choices for the Mazda6 more so than the CX-5 because the 6 is Mazda's new flagship car.

Hard to say whether we get the 2.5 for the CX-5. The press have occasionally criticized the lack of power but most of them point out that it's not that bad and the price to pay for such exemplary fuel economy.

I would expect only 2 engine options for the US market 6; the 2.5 Skyactiv G and the 2.2 Skyactiv D. They will not bring the 2.0 here at this time.

Why only the bigger diesel? Most reviews I've read say the 2.0 is the wise choice, I suppose because the performance isn't that much worse and the MPGs are better.

There is only one diesel engine at this time for CX-5 and the new 6, the 2.2 Skyactiv D. It is offered in two power levels in some European countries while we will only get the more powerful version.
