SLR McLaren

I don't buy Kool-Aid
I know there are alot of people that don't really like that car but I'm one of the people that just thinks it's gorgeous. I've only seen one in person. The oddest thing about it to me is that the V8 sound coming from a Mercedes sounds more like an American engine rather than a nice European one. I personally think a European car should sound like one. That car has plenty of power and is definitely one to respect. The engine note is actually my only complaint about it.
Thats no 8 my friend

SLR = GORGEOUS!!! I've seen a few here in CA and they always catch my attention.
Can't wait to see the new version when it comes out. (MB + AMG venture, no longer McLaren)

I see these around Chicago a few times every summer...I can't stand the design. Every time I see it I think it looks worse than the previous time...I'd definitely take a CarreraGT instead.

that video was freakin great! Still not too crazy on the looks, dont like the gills and long *** nose, but I really like the video. Makes me respect the car more at least.

That paint job is terrible. It's a Smokey and the Bandit travels to Germany type of look. Yuck.
I like that Top Gear video. It shows how good the car really is. The next week they tested the Enzo which was slightly faster. The Porsche GT was also faster. They've actually had a few cars now that have beat it but they have all been much more race oriented cars. What I mean by that is that all of them have been very rough. Lack of sound deadening, harsh ride, etc. More like race cars detuned for the street. The SLR is the opposite. It's more like the best most comfortable street car turned into a race car.
It's a car that a professional driver probably couldn't beat an Enzo or a GT in as has been shown by the Stig. At least not on dry pavement. Mercedes swears that it will kill both of them in wet conditions and it has been proven to do so. It is also an easier to handle car than the Enzo or GT to the nonprofessional driver. The average Joe could go faster around a track in it.
At the end of the day it's still a fantastic car that is to be respected. It's looks are definitely inconventional for a car of that caliber. It's design goals are different than the average car of that caliber. This makes it either loved or hated. There seems to be no middle ground. Regardless of whether or not you like the car, you've got to admit that it's still a pretty incredible piece of engineering.

The last best road car McLaren made was the McLaren F1. This new pansy *** car is for the rich that don't know ****....if they did, the'd get the old one!!!...IMHO That being said, oh hell yeah, I'd take one and drive the hell out of all day long...but in the end, if I had the jack to afford one, I'd get the old one.
