Sneak peek: Mazda RX-7
#28
It does indeed share the nose of the Mazda6 and the tail of the RX-8. It also leans toward the last generation Lexus SC coupes (300 & 400). As with all production cars, Mazda will bold some fender lines and put a hell of an engine in the final car.
I've always admired Mazda for daring to be different; something that just can't and won't be said of the other car manufacturers. (remember the Miller cycle engine in the Millenia)?
I think that cash shortfalls and marketing were the downfall of the company. With Ford backing them this should not be an issue; nor should this whole dilemma about the 247 down to 238 hp. Ford/Mazda should make it right. I trust that they are re-working the ECU's for the 2005 model year. All in all, the little quirks that are happening to/with the 8 is just another example of how companies use us as consumers to be their Beta Testers. Modifications and improvements should be forthcoming. (At least I hope so).
As I went to my local dealer this morning and walked the lot, looking at all 30 RX-8's they had in stock, I came away with the feeling that I'm still going to buy an RX-8 because I belive in the philosphy of Mazda and what they try to encompass with the cars; the fun factor.

Hello BLUE PHI RX-8, welcome to this forum!
Yeah, me too!
Yeah, me too ... right now there is no other car that is out, that I would want to own ... other than the RX-8!
Personally, since I already had to get a new car, earlier in the year, I can now afford to wait a few more years until all of those needed improvements on the RX-8 are forthcoming!
:D
