He means the first post of this thread. Anyways 2.6L I believe is when RENESIS is working, but 1.3L when its off? So 3.2L would be 1.6L in our known terms.

What are you people talking about? Go to Mazda.com look at the Specs of the engine and it clearly states that the rx-8 motor is a 1.3 litre rotary engine!
Where are you poeple getting 1.8 and 3.6?

The next gen RX-7 engine is supposd to be a reworked renesis with either 1.5 or 1.6 ltr 2 rotor displacement giving a piston equivelant of a 3.0 or 3.2
Other options include a turbo'd renases 1.3 or a 3 rotor 2.0litre, neither of which I think is likely.

The only thing that scares me about the new RX7 is well, the competition. Specifically the new Lotus Elise coming to the states. Toyota 4 cylinder power (reliable) in a 2000lb. chassis whittled by the handling gods themselves. Check out the latest R&T. Mazda is going to need to get it right and reliable. Sure, the Elise will be too minimalist for some, but it's a pure sports car capable of low 12's in the 1/4 and 30mpg on the highway! Sub $40K. I've been considering a three rotor conversion on my third gen but this new Elise really does it for me. And it's even more impractical (space wise) than my 7! :-) I hope the dynamics of the new 7 are more Elise than they are Boxter S. The S is a fine car, just too damn plush. Oh yeah, make the new 7 a vert!

give it a rest. they don't know what they're doing, and don't understand the RX-7's lineage. it won't look like that.
the 13B-MSP is a 1.3L motor that breathes comparably to a 2.6L piston engine. stop confusing the issue. it is a 1.3L motor. it breathes 2.6L per two crank rotations, just like a 2.6L Otto cycle piston engine (wankel motors get the whole Otto cycle done in one rotation of the e-shaft, or 1/3 a rotation of the rotor (same thing)).
