So what do yall think about Tacoma X Runner's?
Yeah I know, I said I was most likely going to get a WRX, but I found myself staring at the X Runner one day. Since then I dont even think about WRX's anymore.
So I started researching about the X Runner and I came up with these from various websites and brochures.
Cost : $24,000 base - $26,500 fully loaded without Optional TRD Supercharger
Engine : 4.0L V6 VVT-I
HP : 240-245 @ 5200 RPM
TQ : 282 lb ft @ 3800 RPM
Forced Induction : Optional TRD Supercharger
Transmission : 6-speed manual
Brakes : front disc/rear drum
Steering : Variable-assist power rack-and-pinion
Front Suspension : Coil-spring double wishbone suspension
Rear Suspension : Leaf spring
Tires : P255/45R18
Wheels : 18-in.
0 to 60 MPH : 7.52
Quarter Mile : 15.73
Fuel Economy : City: 16
Fuel Economy : HWY: 21
Weight : 3690
Fuel Capacity : 21.0 gallons
Power comes from a 4.0-liter, 240-horsepower V6 engine that produces 275 lb.-ft. of torque. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) will offer a dealer-installed supercharger for the X-Runner that puts power into the 300-horse range.
Toyota says that, during testing, the X-Runner's road-holding ability was measured by an electronic accelerometer in excess of 0.9 g's of lateral acceleration, which is better than other trucks on the market. The manufacturer says it performed better than many sports cars, including the new Nissan 350-Z.
Expect disbelief - from the guy you left in the last corner. Because a truck shouldn't pull 0.9 G's through a corner. Then again, a truck shouldn't have front and rear stabilizer bars, a limited-slip differential or a chassis-stiffening X-brace either. So while that guy b ehind you is trying to figure out what happened, use X-Runner's 236HP to deepen his confusion. And go steal another.
My thoughts:
Yesterday I had the chance to experience driving this truck. I had normal thoughts on how it was going to handle better than a truck until I went around this one corner and unsuspectedly felt like I was glued to the road! In my honest opinion this truck is one sexy beast.
Its 6 speed MT was stunning. I had some insecurities about going into Reverse though because its where 1st gear would normally be. Luckily Toyota realized it might be a problem for some people, so they reinforced it to where you actually have to use some arm muscle to put it into Reverse for added security.
The power was there when I wanted it to be. It might only show 120 on the Speedometer, but who needs to go that fast anyways?
Well I would finish up on this but I am anxious to see your replies. Ill be waiting.

You'll have something in common with the soccer moms now diabolical :p haha. jokes.
I was looking at a tacoma, but one that has some ground clearance. I need a real truck, not a truck trying to be sports cars. Tacoma didn't have enough power and I didn't really like the tundra. I did like the F150 Supercab FX4.

As for a truck trying to be a sports car, Ill do you one better. If I get it I will be installing the TRD SC in January or finding other ways to boost it.

When you can spend $26,000 fully loaded 240hp truck that people think they can beat easily, just buy a $3k SC and whoop their asses.

Thats my view on this truck.

I've always liked trucks, especially Toyotas. If I had the extra money, I would definitely get a supercharged X-runner. I really like the way it looks too.
There is a guy over here that has a Srt-10. It ran a 14.1 or something. It can't get any traction. Then we also have some low 13 second 22r Toyotas, but the fastest truck on the island is a 2003 extracab with the TRD supercharged 3.0L v6. I saw it run a best time of 12.75@115.
I would love to see what the new 4.0L engine can do.

It is good for what it is, but why sacrifice gas mileage, practicality, handling (potential at a minimum if it's comparable to a WRX stock) and seating capacity. I sat in one of those at the SF Auto show a few months ago and it was nice. I'll give it that. But generally speaking, those in the market for the WRX don't cross shop a Tacoma X-Runner because it's apples to oranges. Go drive the WRX again and get your mind right son.

Exhaust, suspension, shifter and even gauges are all good places to start. Seeing a really cool looking boost gauge that doesn't work will also just be more motivation to get the SC when it comes out.

Underdog Racing Development Short Shifter - $110 44% shorter throws
Air Intake - Remove one filter in it, there are 2 filters and 1 restricts air flow by a massive amount.
Headers - Possibly purchasing JBA Headers
Exhaust - I forgot the name of it, but I will be purchasing it.
Fast trucks are cool.

yeah toyotas are dope, but im not into minitrucks or race trucks(ie f150 svt lightning/srt10/xrunner etc) but the x runner looks pretty good. im into 4x4ing/off roading, and toyotas are some of the best for that, lifted toyotas rock. i think for sporting purposes you need a sports car, and for off roading you need a 4x4 truck, im a little old fashioned but i think thats how it should be.
i gotta hand it to you the x runner is a F***in' dope *** truck though
