Hyundai has announced plans to introduce a 500 horsepower Genesis Coupe at the SEMA Motor Show.
Created by students from the Hennessey Performance Engineering Tuner School, the Genesis Coupe features a turbocharger, HKS boost controller, and an upgraded fuel management system. Thanks to these tweaks, the engine produces 500 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. If Hyundai's predictions are correct, the car should accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.5 seconds.
If that isn't impressive enough, the car also has a matte black and carbon fiber-wrapped exterior, Savini wheels, Eibach springs, and a Brembo braking system.
According to John Hennessey, "The Genesis Coupe architecture is the ideal platform for tuners looking to make everyday modifications to their vehicles and our students at the Tuner School took full advantage. The visually stunning complete carbon fiber matte black wrap and high-end performance benchmarks create a monster SEMA car

That's a sweet idea for a Halloween costume; wrap yourself up in CF and have a a label on you somewhere that says "Hennessey Geni Coupe". When you knock on the door and they ask what you're supposed be you reply "Epic Failure"

Epic Fail. Wow.
I actually test drove the turbo 4 and the 6-cyl version of this car. The 4 is complete garbage (not nearly enough power for the weight) and the 6 is very average at best. I wasn't impressed at all. However I did get a good laugh at the salesman who was doing his best to convince me this is the greatest car ever made.

Now, I'll admit I was looking over a matte black wrap a couple weekends ago on a Mini-cooper that was out in Scottsdale. It would certainly be an alternative to having the whole car painted.
However, a carbon fiber wrap is honestly a total failure. It's one thing to fake a paint job. It's another thing to fake having a car made out of a very expensive and lightweight material.
I remember MazdaManiac and I saw a full carbon fiber wrapped 350z at a car show and we sat there picking it apart. If you're going to do carbon fiber on the whole car...for the love of god get the real thing.

You know, I was big fan of the Genesis Coupe before it came out. I've seen them on the road... not impressed.
This just the icing on the cake. What an ugly car. Is that really the best they can do? It's a joke.
