btw, just in case you ever want to have some fun, there is like a 13 step proceedure to completely turn off the electronic driver assist on the IS350, so contrary to what the magazines reported, the electronic nannying can indeed be turned off.

Here are some of the functions that can be used on the display.

The car also has dual temp cabin control. An Auxilary port for an Ipod.
The coolest thing is that you never have to use a key. You just keep it in your pocket and the car unlocks itself as soon as you put your hand by th handle. It senses your hand. You start the car by pushing the start/ stop button.

“start the car with the parking brake on ….then foot brake twice….(keep the foot brake down)….then parking brake twice (keep it down )and repeat till skid light is on the dash…..it will reset when you restart the car”

Don't let them get to you. I am glad you managed to find something new that you know you'll enjoy. I think the IS350 is a great car and you definitely made a great choice. Seeing that you spent so long trying to squeeze out more horsepower from the 8, by swapping to the IS350 you managed to stay classy and finally got the power you were looking for. Have fun

I don't really understand this sentiment of putting other cars down for seemingly no reason at all. Why would he hate the 8 to trade it in for the Lexus? The Lexus is a better car by far than the 8 in certain aspects. The 8 is better in other aspects. If someone wanted more straightline power than the 8, he would consider the IS. If he wanted more luxury, he would consider the IS. Where does hate come in at all?

Personally I think the IS350 looks great and I've always been a fan of the Lexus interior.

Sad to hear but as long as you like your car that's all that matters. I like the new IS, it's looks and quality of course are the best points.

I don't like being forced into an auto tranny and the rear seats (for a sadan) seem a tight fit, but other than that it's a fine car.

Congrats, enjoy!

one word should be adequet enough. Jealousy.
There are things the each car does better than the other, but IS350 is overall a better car than the rx8. Since it cost almost 2x as much, its only natural that its better.

Sometimes people might be having buyers remorse and is not happy with their car, thus needing to put down other cars in order to justify and reinforce one self. Its just a natural human behavior and we are all prone to it at one time or another.

You made the right choice. This is a major upgrade in my book, although a different one at that. That is a very sweet machine. I can see why you made the change, I too love all kinds of cars, but I somehow managed to sotp myself from constantly changing. For now that is.

May I refer you to the most recent post I made...
"I didn't mean to degrade your decision. What matters is what you like. I am sure half the fun is dressing it up and customizing it to look the way you want it."

You stated yourself that the Lexus by far is better than certain aspects. Why is your judgement of the 8 ok but mine isn't?

Lol. The car costs twice as much as the 8 so it is a better car? Poor argument. There is no reinforcing one's self since in my opinion the 8 is the better car. Besides, the 8 has been gone for quite awhile my putty friend so jealousy is non-existent. Next...

Why is your judgement of the 8 ok but mine isn't?

What I wrote was the truth. The IS350 is better than the RX-8 in many aspects while the RX-8 excells in some aspects itself. Are you going to deny that the IS350 isn't a more comfortable ride? That it doesn't have more power than the 8? That the interior isn't far more luxurious than the 8? That in all probability it's going to be as reliable or more reliable than the 8 (given Toyota's track record)? The 8 gives you a more connected feeling and corners better than the IS350, sure. Let me know what your complaint is about any my "judgement" of the 8 is.

On the other hand your implicit judgement of the IS350 is it's only worth getting if you hate the 8. You don't see the difference here?

There is no reinforcing one's self since in my opinion the 8 is the better car.

That's fine. This is the problem I have with people. The 8 is a better car FOR YOU. It's not the better car for everyone. It depends on what you want. If you want pure performance, the STi/Evo is a far better car. If you want luxury, the IS350 is a far better car. If you want to feel connected to your car, and a high revving engine that corners well, 4 seats, and a relatively comfortable ride, the RX-8 is a great car.

Don't get me wrong. I love my RX-8. I'm just sick of seeing people bash other cars for no reason, especially when the overexaggerate.

I'm not a huge fan of the car myself, but I'm glad you got a car that you love. I still see my 8 and it gives me a huge smile across my face everytime. when I drive the 8, I dont feel as though I am in a car driving down the road. I feel as though the car is nothing but an extension of myself. I dont drive my car, I drive myself. I hope the your 350 is the same way for you. congrats.

If a dealer told me to "put the petal to the metal" I would turn around and go elsewhere. I surely wouldn't buy any car from that dealer that had ANY miles on it because they are hard test miles. Nice car though.

I'm guessing that the only reason he said "pedal to the metal" is because he saw me pull up in the RX-8. Not only that, but he also asked me "Would you like to test drive a 250?" I said no, I want to feel the 350's power. He said "oh so its the power you want huh?" I said "of course I wouldn't want anything less". Well I test drove a white IS350 and it hauled butt. I went to the dealer alone, so then I said, well let me talk about it with my wife. The sales men left for a second and a came back and said. "How would you like to take a solo test drive all the way to your house so that you can show it to your wife?" I said sure. He made sure I took a color that I liked. So The dealer crew cleared all of the chairs out of the way and rolled it off the show room floor. Only 4miles on the odometer. He then says. "Pedal to the metal once again". I said. Oh no, If my wife approves, this will be my car and I want to break it in the right way. And that's how it happend. All in New Years Eve. Talk about Great Customer Service!

I believe every dealership should have a car specifically there so that one can feel its power and handeling. Other wise why test drive. *I mean we already know that the car is going to move and turn, but how well will it do it. Its really the only way to know what you are going to get. One could read all the magazines and reviews in the world but you don't know what your getting yourself into untill you actually dive it to its potential. Look at the RX-8 for example. All the reviews said it had 250 hp. I was not able to test drive the car the way I wanted to, but if they did, I probably wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.

lol-I guess since you post the truth and I don't you win.

To be honest, I didn't read your post in length. I really don't care if someone bought something else. I stated that in my second post. I personally feel that the Lexus is a little bland coming from the 8 but I then reiterated that it will be fun for that new owner to dress it up as he/she desires. The 8 is gone. Did you not read my post yourself? I bought my wife a 2005 Durango Limited and am in the process of deciding what I want. When someone says basically "See ya, I got rid of the 8 for ______", you open yourself for comments. I don't have the 8 anymore so that ruins your argument I am jealous. I am happy for anyone that gets something they like.

I like these forums still because there are some pretty decent people here.

This is the truth and I'm not trying to be an ***. My grandparents own an IS now. They traded in the navigator for one, and the reason? Because my grandmother could not get in an out of the navigator easily (too tall).

IMO It just looks very bla to me... The only other car that could pull me away from my 8 is a G35.

I find it funny that you say that cuz, While I was trading in my 8 there was also a G35 owner trading in his car for an IS350 as well.
