manyof people watch tv at all sorts of different hours. so many hours of programming of what a large amount of people want to watch makes perfect business sense. its about ratings after all.
i agree that marginalising the other forms of racing is annoying to those of us that enjoy them. and i would normally whole heartedly support your consolidated efforts to get the programming you want- but not when you( the plural not you specifically blue) insult me and many other people i know. many many of those "hicks" grow the food on your table. many many of them build or fix the plumbing in your house etc etc. keep insulting them.
take a gander at the sidelines during WRC races- alcohol swilling, funny looking, probably not well educated, poor folk. guess what? they're race fans too

I don't think NASCAR drivers aren't skilled - some of them certainly are quite talented, including the current crop of drivers who have done rather decently at the IROC events in recent years.
However, NASCAR racing, and every variation thereof, is inherently quite boring. They go 'round and 'round a banked mostly-oval track. They draft. They use pack tactics. Whoopee. You could argue that DTCC/BTCC, Moto GP, and F1 all use similar tactics, but at least the tracks are interesting, and the corner and straight tactics are much more varied, even if they go through lap after lap. IMHO, corners = drama.

I think some people are missing the point. It's not about "NASCAR vs. WRC". Rather this is about the saturation point. Even NASCAR fans will admit SPEED is running a disproportionate amount of NASCAR related programming. In the process it's not just WRC that is getting displaced either. Variety is the spice of life and a lot of the appeal of SPEED. It's become too repetitive lately. It's become a boring channel to watch if you don't like auctions, reality TV and circle track racing.

I think they should make it even programming - some touring cars, some drag racing, some F1, some WRC, some motorcycles, some NASCAR. That way everyone's happy, not just the few folks who can put up with (and actually enjoy) their abysmal programming. I mean, Barrett Jackson is good in moderation, now it's just boring. Same with their movies - good once, but not 15 times. NASCAR and their stupid reality shows have never been good, but some people enjoy them, so they should stay, just reign it in guys!

your right its not and i agree marginalising the other racing events around the world is annoying but-
Given that most Nascar watchers would not be coming to an RX-8 board either.
that kind of crap is really offensive to me. that "redneck" is fixing the leak in your roof. the people that sometimes get hurt or killed at all racing events from things like flying tires- your probably related to some of them or are freind to one of their relatives.
that beer drinking some are so fond of pointing to as some kind of indictment of their mentality? you dont drink beer when watching football or F1 or WRC? oh what they're drinking cheap beer? well ok Ike is probably drinking wine
there are a bunch of people here who think they are somehow better than others because of what kind of racing they choose to watch on tv or in person. just because you dont like something doesnt make you any better than the person who does. just because your from the city doesnt make you any better than a person who grew up in the sticks. thinking so makes you less of a person in my eyes. and id rather go sit in the stands at a nascar event drinking beer with a "redneck wearign a mullet" who farms for a living instead of watching that "foreign sheaht" at some stuck up full of himself snob of an IT guy's house.
that's all im saying

i enjoy nascar and ALL forms of racing. i love the aussi touring car series. what kill it for me is all the nascar grab on reality shows that have popped up.
speed could do without.
nascar nation
speedfreaks / freakin stupid
and all the shows like these...
i think they will figure it out, but is will take awhile.
btw, do a ride a long at daytona in 60 seconds. 10 seconds off of what they run. will give you a whole new perspective on the SPORT.

I don't buy Kool-Aid
I think everyone has to have a sport to follow. Its just that the minority rules with NASCAR. After all where do you think NASCAR started? . All I'm saying is NASCAR footage from 1978? I mean come on did we not just cross over into 2006 recently?. Oh well so much for speed channel...

Again no offense intended. And for you Zoom44 are probably not the stereotypical Nascar fan. There is a guy in my office a DB programmer who loves Nascar, I wouldn’t consider him a stereotypical Nascar fan either. Nascar has the image of being the racing sport of “Joe Sixpack” and as such will be the butt of jokes to some degree (And how many Joe Sixpacks drive Rx-8’s? Not many I’m thinking). It’s like watching golf or tennis. The athletes involved are very skilled but the sport itself is quite boring (at least to me).

Petition signed... I really do miss the old Speedvision, where you could catch, besides car racing, gems like the Reno Unlimited Air Races... now that's a sport for the horsepower addict.... google for Rare Bear for just one example of extreme heavy metal racing.
Speed had shown some promise late last year, they revived the Lost Drive-In, and hinted that roundy-round oval race coverage would decrease in favor of more road racing.. I guess they've gone back on that hint. At the behest of their owners, Fox, no doubt.

oh man this sucks!!!
I loved watching the WRC races last year!
I don't care what TIME they air it, as I have TiVO to record it all. So off-hours programming I don't care about.
But if they won't air it.. ****!

IS THERE ANYWHERE I can get WRC coverage on American TV?

Young driver Chris Atkinson is whooping some *** and is up to second place behind Gronholm after day 1, Loeb and Solberg are out of it so it looks like we'll have some enexpected podiums. Plus, the Skoda team is looking good, but my heart will be with Subaru all year long and probably for years to come, I just can't see myself rooting for Mitsubishi except for the privateers in the JWRC...

Dunno, WRC+ just isn't the same nice 1.5hr format that SPEED channel presented their races at. From what I've seen, doesn't seem to be worth it, but it seems that it's the best I can do, short of getting satellite TV w/ Eurosport.
Sorry, I ignored the rest of your post as I don't want too many spoilers just yet.
