Speedsource wreck

Uhh...so I can barely get on to a racetrack with my own car, but someone is actually paying that guy to drive their incredibly expensive, purpose-built racecar for them!?
Hell, give me a bazillion dollars, I'd be quite comfortable assuring a team owner that I could drive better than THAT.

That guy is probably paying to drive the car. That was a totally stupid move, though I've seen Fernando Alonso do something akin to that multiple times this season. Of course, Aloneso (misspelled on purpose) believes the world should bend to his wishes. Maybe the 31 car driver had the same attitude?

Usually, a driver will come on board with sponsorship money he has acquired himself. Unless he is rich and wants to spend his own money. If he has sponsorship money then a deal is made on placement and size of the sponsors logo.

I personally think he should be banned from racing.
You have to be pretty stupid to do that on in HDPE.
By the way Ben and Cory died the same way two years ago at Calf. Speedway.
That was a HDPE bone head maneuver.

I have never felt such an erge to reach thru the screen and beat someone senseless... jesus man, that is just inexcusable stupidity. That guy shoud not be allowed to race, period.
He showed a complete lack of driving skill by going off trck in the first place, and then one-upped it with his 90* entrance at the exit of a high speed corner.
His team should be fined, points should be lost, and the driver should be banned for a season. I cannot believe no one ws seriously injured.

Watched it live too......like many of you I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Grand Am does have race licensing standards so, presumably, Mr. Ingram was considered duly qualified........ Makes you wonder though!
As a race instructor for the last 10 years I think this is one of the most dangerous situations newbys face....losing thier composure and pulling a move like this. I think I'm going to incorporate this clip into my teachings........

You haven't been watching racing very long. I remember that feeling back in the 80's when Doc Bundy made a stupid move to pass at Riverside. He took out Lynn St. James and a Jaguar driver (I don't remember his name but he was seriously injured and/or burnt). He was an experienced driver and I totally lost all respect for him at that point.
