Spherical Valve piston engines???

Hey I searched and found nothing, here's a video for Coates Spherical Valve piston engines....pretty cool.

Supposedly they use higher compression like a 12 to 1 or more. with increased fuel efficiency. 30% more efficient. dunno watch the video. check out the website.

no valve float at high rpms.... I liked the sound of that. Don't want the vtak kicking in yo!!! I've seen what happens there

Maybe the valvetrain itself is 30% more efficient, but I doubt that the overall engine efficiency could be improved by 30% with this.

Why? It only works with pistons and it will probably never go any farther than being published in a few articles.

seems like a good idea.

after spending billions on their new electric plug-in, or hydrogen systems, i cant see any major automaker buying this patent.

as most, this company could sell their own engines for custom motorcycles

Piston engines will be around for a long while let. Anything that increases their efficiency further is something auto makers would be interested in. There are also racing applications...

This has been out for a while. In fact this is a repost.

As cool as it is, there has to be something holding it back.

Some inventors need to be SCHOOLED oldstyle!

In 1939, what do you think the great Felix (may he rest in peace) Wankel was working on for Dornier and Heinkel bomber engines?

Who guessed rotary valves? Correctamundo.

He saw how inefficient and wasteful it was to have these metal bits jumping up and down, then he looked down into the cylinder bore and must have thought 'ich kann besser tun.....' (I can do better!)

I've heard of this before. I believe someone already retro-fitted a Motorcycle engine with this spherical valvetrain as a prototype. The problem is auto makers are so set in their ways it would take a major cost-efficient push to make this happen.

Fewer moving parts with a little better efficiency. . . . . . . . . . sounds like a good idea.
Better compression too . . . . . . . .

Why is nobody using this?
