stupid neons. lol...most of the SRT guys sound like they're still in highschool. neons are the ugliest cars ever made...period. but you know, they spent their hard earned/parent's hard earned money to get a car they wanted. to each his own, everyone should love their own car...

i love mazda, but an miata would not hang with an srt for a long time in the track, even with superior handling. The srt is an cheap *** ugly car, but its very very fast.

I saw that the guy with the Miata said his is not stock (I believe he meant the engine). I get the impression that he might be the smartest one in there although I do think he is just trying to get some feathers ruffled!

who actually goes to the srt forum on purpose? do you get lost on the way to another site? lol. seems like a group of people who feel their car rules everything and wont be told otherwise. i love the arguement that "my car could be made into a handling monster (w/only thousands of dollars worth of work)".

The SRT-4 guys can be total tools, but the guy with the Miata fits right in with them. Anyone who would go to the SRT-4 boards and argue with those guys has issues and needs their head checked. He's also a bit off with his info, the SRT-4 actually handles pretty well, it also brakes about as well as the MS Miata. On a real track any Miata but maybe the MS would have a hardtime keeping up with an SRT-4, on an autox track it just depends on the model of the miata and of course the driver. But the SRT-4 is no joke in the handling department, combine that with 230-240whp stock and it's bye bye Miata on any decent size roadcourse.

I dunno Ike. I see spec Miatas killing Vettes, M3s, S4s, etc. at thunderhill all day long. Of course driver has alot to do with it, but Miatas especially spec miatas w/ full suspension, corner balancing, etc. are very good on the track.

The link was given to me by the guy with the miata. i'm not sure why he lurks there... but its not just to cause crap. Just thought you guys might like a nice laugh.

And yea... his car is not stock at all. Supercharged, full race suspension. Very quick car.

They aren't buying the SRT to race around the track. The majority anyway. They race them where they shouldn't be and wonder why insurance is so damn high for their age bracket. Looks are subjective but I would bet a month's salary on a public poll with the 8 winning by a bunch. On another note, I was looking into a S2000 for the wife and some on their forum said the 8 was ugly. I know I said looks are subjective but I think it was more in defense of their car then how they really felt. I like the S2000, its definitely not ugly but it is more plain then the 8. Not enough people to appreciate cars. You buy one and all of a sudden everything is is garbage.

I'm talking stock, don't get my wrong, Miatas are impressive little cars. But not so impressive that they can take another car that handles pretty well with nearly twice the WHP and less than 500lbs more in weight. The year of release Dodge ran an SRT-4 in the One Lap of America, the SRT-4 finished 7th overall and that was against outrageously modded cars. The SRT-4 was prettymuch stock save for the factory stage 2 upgrade which made it put out about as much power as the standard 04+ SRT-4s do. Dodge did have a ringer driver, but many of the guys that compete in that race are pretty accomplished weekend warriors.

I don't think we should talk about other forums, no reason to. We don't deal with them and they don't deal with us. We like our cars better than they like theirs. The srt-4 is fast as hell, but not everyone likes it.

Kind of like a WRX owner who would go to the RX-8 boards and argue with those guys? Would you say such an individual also has issues and needs their head checked?

Thanks for the confirmation - many here have said it, and it's nice to hear you validate it! :D :p

I just am speaking from seeing seasoned drivers in spec miatas (stock engines...you prob already know this) passing other drivers in far superior cars in C class at both Laguna Seca and at T-Hill... of course drivers may not be equal as well. Stock miata vs. stock SRT-4 on a track, I dunno...prob the SRT-4. SRT-4 w/ suspension vs. Miata w/ suspension...now that would be a good matchup. My $ would be on the miata w/ the crazy 60yo instuctor behind the wheel. lol

What is it with the bashing of the srt-4 and it's JUST A NEON thing. To me that's a pathetic stab at a car that will unfortunately trounces the rx8 in pretty much ever category. I guess we need something to throw sticks and stones out, due to fact that a faster, better looking sports car that should be as fast as a neon but simply isn't. It just proves how imtimidating that car is, due to fact that the only thing ***** speed envy people can do is call it ugly and say IT"S JUST A NEON. If I were an srt04 owner, I'd be laughing at these posts and declaring VICTORY. I had the honor of driving one of those last year. Now I hate to admit this, but I'm an objective honest guy here and must point out something. I own an STI, and I love that car, but from a rolling start I am very vulnerable against an srt04 stock for stock. The only major advantage I se performance wise in STI is AWD. It's pushing out just as much WHP, and weights considerably lighter. What happened to respect for performance here. Why must we mock the looks and stereotyping. I guess this is a human nature defense mechanism bue to fast that the srt will walk our rx8s. I have a large amount of respect for the srt in a performance level. No I'm not s fan of it's looks, but to me it 's quite pathetic to bash this car. Come on guys, swallow your pride and admit that is one wicked car in speed in performance. Time to acceot the truth, and give the srt it's props.

I was speaking to the quality of posters over on the SRT-4 forums, seems to me like you're insulting RX-8club members as a whole with that one, not just me... Take it as a compliment that I chose to post here, I usually only post on forums where the members are knowledgable and respect other cars, maybe I picked the wrong site... :p

^^^ responding to viking dj's post....I do give the SRT-4 props, but let me ask you something. Have you seen a spec miata in action before? If you have, you'd understand the claims that it's a great track car if prepared correctly. It's like a darn go kart that never slows down even in corners. The only downside of spec miatas is that the engine is stock so they are down on HP. No, I don't have a special place in my heart for miatas nor do I hate SRT-4s. I just think from seeing miatas in action and riding along in them a few times that they are very good track cars. no hating here.
