SRT4 going to give Evo's and Sti's a run
An article in my newly arrived Automobile mag has info on the new upcoming SRT4. Mopar previously offered stage 1 turbo upgrade for $399 pushing hp to 240, a stage 2 turbo for $999 pushing 260hp or for $1599 pushing 265 hp.
Mopar is now offing a stage 3 trubo upgrade for $1195 that will push 310 hp with 325 lb, or 355 hp and 365lb. with 100 octane gas. this package also comes with upgrade wheels and tires, adjustable damper, new rear tension struts, larger front anitiroll bar, and all seats will harness belts.
I would say with that kinda of numbers, it seems to blow the doors off an Evo and STI, and for the price these things will go for, I can't see anything touching this car. This car will definitely push the competition upwards and hopefully Mazda will jump on the bandwagon...Thumbs-up for those boys at Dodge.
Now all this car needs is a redesign of the body so it doesn't look so much like a neon...

Yay for straightline racing.
Like anything above stage 2, there is no more warranty on the SRT4 once you move up to a stage 3.
At the end of the day, this car is still a FWD understeering machine that is generally owned by 18 year old kids who do nothing but street race it.

Although I hate the neon, I have to give props to dodge. IMO, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep are the best domestics. The srt doesn't handle that bad but Im sure the higher the hp on them the more torque steer it will have.

Don't for get to crank roll those back windows too. The SRT-4 is a cheap *** car with a big horsepower motor in it, I want a car that is best all around, anyone can go in a straightline, lets see one on a mountain road and see where it is then. The EVO could use some enhancements to the interior as well. The STI seems to be the best made car out of the 3

You and Ike are on the ban wagon of AWD Rally Cars with Turbos.

i'd love to see the SRT-4 come in AWD and still be cheap... but how realistic is it to expect that? Ike, when is the new SRT-4 design coming out and what will it look like? Link?
I must say i used to be a die-hard fan of the 8 for its all-around performance (but most importantly its looks), but i'm slowly swaying towards the STi and the EVO... because i'm finally starting to see them for what they are: ridiculously fast cars with brilliant handling. The 8 is a beautiful car with brilliant handling. Tough call.

That's basically what the did too, they took their entry level compact car and added all wheel Drive and a Turbo. (and of course some other things) But its still their entry level car with some upgrades. Maybe if they had their own designs and then dropped the Performance in them I would show a little more respect towards those cars. But they didnt.......................

No, not everyone can drop a turbo in a car and call it a day. Evidenced by the fact that its been a year and a half and the 8 is just begining to see turbos.
If I am on any bandwagon its the midengined, rear drive bandwagon.
