steering wheel lock??
Was advised by mechanic-- who does not routinely work on Mazda cars--that a bar type $50 steering wheel lock is a deterent to theft. His comment "any security measure helps." I work at a large community college where parking lot attracts theives from miles around.
I read the threads here about security and saw that without the key, car simply won't start. My car has to live in my driveway as only have 12" leeway in garage entry. Too close for my cataracts. Have ordered and will use a body cover but that won't slow the "serious" theives.
Would you recommend the bar type steering lock? I don't know if same would tear up the leather on steering wheel. Yet if it helps deter theives...
Thanks for your time and suggestions

get that car in the garage if you can...all that acid rain in portland isn't great for the clear coat... to make it fit with you bad eyes just put small mirrors at the corners angled so you can see the front of the car and the entyway
I've heard the bar type steering lock is useless

If there were two RX-8s close to each other, one with THE CLUB and one without it, I wonder which car a thief would go for?

If the thief doesn't mind damaging your car a little bit to get in, I'm sure cutting the steering wheel would not be a huge issue for them. I personally think the club is more a piece of mind than an actual theft deterent system.
