It's blatently obvious that EVO and STI fanbois and owners are trying to assure the EVO or STI wins, even though I believe the STI is clearly outselling the EVO now. No proof of that, but the STI is being purchased my Subaru owners, who initially wanted a wrx or even a base Impreza, but took that extra step in $$ to get the top of line. I was one of those people, and I keep loving this car more and more. There really is no worthy Lancer in my book other then the EVO. The WRX to me is a great respectable car in it's own right, and a great value. ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Also, the Lancer Ralliart really isn't a bad car for the price, volumes better than that sad little Lancer OZ. It's not to the level of a WRX but it'll easily outperform a RS.

I put on an intake yesterday and gained 1 mpg and also beat the evo and sti from a dig. We weren't street racing though.....wink, wink.

True the Lancer Ralliart isn't a bad car for it's price, but I admit I shrug a little when I see those cars dressed all up beyond stock to look like an EVO, only to realize it's not. No disrespect to those who own and love that car, but it makes me shake my head at times. I guess we all have our own preferences, so more power to those who love the OZ Rally.

i voted for the STi. quite a lot of people on rx7club have those as daily drivers. they love the warrenty that comes with it (especially the free new brakes that costs 300-400 if they do it themselves) and the reliability compared to the evo. and ofcourse its daily drivable. +1 for Subaru!

Did Forbes really call either of these cars "the ultimate japanese supercar"

I tried the link but their site was blank for me

The international HP/TQ measurement standards changed. It's the same engine with the same power as it always had.
BTW...If Mitsu measured the Evo's power how Subaru measures the STi, then the Evo IX would be close to 330hp.

I owned a 2005 STi until last November when I got "responsible" and traded it in for an automatic tranny Accord (long story). Stupidest thing I ever did. I still miss it.
I had test driven both the Evo and the STi and agree with everything said about the build quality of the Evo and the interior. That was all that swayed me to the STi.
As for daily driveability, that was not so great. The clutch had a heavy pedal and really quick engagement. Combine that with all the torque and needing to row through 4 gears every time I left a light even to go 40mph (very close ratios), my 6 mile / 8 stoplight commute was becoming a pain in the ***. Driving with a passenger in the car was embarassing because each shift caused severe head bob despite all the care I took to shift smoothly, something I had always done well with my heavily modded (including stage 2 clutch) Civic. The suspension was really stiff and the OEM tires had the comfort level of bricks (although there is no better tire for performance without going to an R compound.) Despite all that, I was going crazy in the Accord.
I am amazed with the RX-8. The ride quality is a world better than the STi and it can be driven VERY smoothly. It gives up very little in handling from what I can tell so far, and is also no slouch on power. I am missing the STi much less these days.

I think he's talking about the 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper which at least Subaru dealerships around here are really good to you. Many owners on STI forum have had their brake pads replaced for free if they are worn thin enough, or the indicator screech hits and you haven't reached 36k miles. So many who take their car to track, or drive hard will go through those stock pads way before 36k miles. Those pads are not cheap, and they don't last 50-60k miles like many other cars that's for sure. Subaru also replaces worn clutches before the 36k miles too in certain areas, like where I live. That's part of Subaru's warranty, and even though it's not as long as Mistubishis, where I live it's way better. They are actually pretty good with warranty stuff, at least in my area.
My uncle who's a service manager for Mitsubishi says they refuse warranty coverage for pretty much everyone who comes in with pre-mature worn brake pads or clutch on an Evo. I guess every dealership is different, so maybe there are some good Mitsubishi dealerships out there that take care of you like the Subaru ones do in the NE. I drive too many highway miles to benefit from this though.
