Supra vs. Rx-8

I could buy a 97-98 Supra Turbo or save for 6 more months and get a Rx-8. What dose everyone think?

$10,000 for Supra under 40,000 miles or $30,000 for the 8 under 40 miles.

Sounds like a good deal. So have you talked to a/your bank yet? or are you doing cash? If you do get it you will have more mods opts than we do as of right now. But to buy a car like that to me its no fun it has all the power it can take. I like to build that kind of power in a car not just buy it like that. To me thats more fun. But hey this way you will save on down time if you only have one car.

Man I have tryed my best to see it but I'll take a stab and say 400hp+?
I know if I had the chance to get a Supra or a RX-8 I would go with the 8. At one point I wonted that much HP and would have not thought twice about getting a Supra. But for now I enjoy all the looks I get from my car and so would you. So my question for you is: Are you looking for sporty? or speed?

10 k for a supra that is under 40 k miles. awesome deal if he didnt beat it or anything. I would go for the supra!! faster, sexy, and cost less, BUT it is used. i dont like buying used cars, im a new car person. Supras are amazing, i love it. did i mention i love the rx-8! Y not get BOTH! RX-8 daily, supra weekend/race car. or other way around

I have yet to see a 97-98 Supra Turbo in DECENT shape that was under $20k..and those have high miles.

If you say you can get one for $10k, there is either something seriously wrong with the car, or you are full of ****.

If I was to buy a Toyota Supra, I would check EVERYTHING. If it's got 40,000+ miles, you don't know who the previous owner is, and you don't know what he or she did, I would hold on making the purchase. Hook the car up to a boost gauge, and check if it's consistent with the stock settings at X-rpm. $10,000 may seem like a steal, but personally, I would do some research on the JZA80, because even though they're like tanks, they can still have some underlying problems. Also, check the body/chassis for any damage. I would want to get my money's worth, especially for a TT Supra. Good luck bro .

that price is freakin UNREAL. There is NO way that thing has a clean title, I looked at a 97 a few months ago and the guy got damn near $40k for it with less than 38k miles, and it was AUTO.

Also I believe you're reading the engine work wrong. I'm pretty sure that dyno says 800hp, just look at the engine bay, there really is nothing left to be done to that car. It's absolutely not something you would want to use as a daily driver, and I'm also betting it has a salvage title or smething screwy with it. Lastly, there is no way you're going to find a 93+ Supra turbo in decent shape for under 10k, especially not a 97 or 98.

There were also two engines on the Supra and it may not necessarily be the JZ engine. Also the Supra is longer, heavier and doesn't handle as well as the 8.
I personally think the 8 looks so much better than the Supra Celica, yes it's a Celica says so on the title. Also as stated above, if you are getting a TT for 10 Grand something must be wrong.

Not necessarily. If this guy is an idiot, he'll sell it to you for $10,000. Personally, I would take the RX-8; it's a more promising car than the JZA80. Did I mention that I'm biased? $40,000 is about the right price for a used "excellent condition" Supra anyways. I certainly wouldn't pay 40k though. If you want a good Supra, I think www.mkiv.com can help you out .

It was pretty much the same engine, but one was a TT one was not, whatever it started out as it's no longer. Look at the dyno graph and the engine bay, that's a big single I believe.

If you want a highly tuned drag car that's going to have lots of problems and may have something screwy with the title then go for it, it's still a good price and I doubt it will be available for long.

do not buy that supra.
Like others said no way a supra in good working order (especially with all of the mods put into it) is only 10K...this is a trick of somekind. Or the car has major problems.
