You're a bit confused, the STi has the least lag of all and almost drives like an N/A car mainly due to it's larger displacement and smaller (faster spooling) turbo.

...unless you're not from the US, in which case Rxdriftingaction's statement falls in line with most of the reviews that I've seen.

True, depending on which STi we're talking about.

Everything I've read states the WRX has the most lag, followed by the EVO, followed by the USDM STi:
WRX > EVO > STI

They are selling very slowly now... The Subaru dealer we just sold has 5 on the lot and they have been sitting for a while... They will do invoice on them and then some...

I saw an STi today on the road. I don't care for the looks at all. And despite the fact that I previously said the STi wasnt too bad compared to the EVO, I take that back. I think I actually prefer the looks of the EVO.

Me too, by far. I certainly respect the STi's performance, but it's one of the more hideous cars I've seen.

The Evo, on the other hand, has grown on me, especially in black where it just looks downright mean. It's not sexy like the 8, but it is appealing in a no-nonsense kinda way.

I almost bought a black one before I discovered the 8, and spent quite a bit of time walking around it, taking it all in... and soon found I really liked the look. I *might* have had to remove the ridiculous wing though, lol.

I'm watching WRC as I write this... sigh... I DO love my 8, and I DON'T regret my decision, but... but... I wish I could afford BOTH, lol. I hope the one I was about to buy found a good home... and isn't all riced-out by some kid already

Yeah, I hate that wing too!

I wish the RX-8 had the performance of the EVO, then you would have the ultimate car!

I have to agree after buying an sti. All read about it was how laggy it was, how unfriendly it was to drive daily. That is about as far from the truth as it can be. The car has very even power until you step on gas, then it spools up lightning fast and just goes. I never got to drive the EVO, but it just looks awful to me, so I didn't even waste my time. I paid $29500 for my sti, and like the rx8, the demand has gone way down. The 05 STI is selling at or below invoice as well. I didn't buy the sti for it's looks, and would never compare it to my rx8, but I could not stomach the EVO's looks. I bought the STI as my daily beater driver, so looks do not play much of a role, but it's still a decent looking car, with a boat load of performance, and gets excellent gas mileage (26mpg highway) for a 300hp beast. Some people like the EVO, some people like the STI, some people think they are both ugly, and will chose looks and refinement of rx8 any day of the week. If looks is your #1 goal, and you don't need car all the power, then you have your car.

The STI, EVO, and RX8 are all awesome.... and they're all imperfect.

The USDM STI is not laggy. My biggest complaint with the MY04 is its relatively loose steering (supposedly improved MY05). Someone else here described it as agile, but I wouldn't. Its handling *is* excellent, but it's not as tossable as the RX8.

The EVO is an incredible all-around performer. But its ride is harsh, its engine suffers from severe lag, and its torque curve looks like a seismic graph. Maybe if I was younger I could deal with the washboard ride, but nowadays I need a little more cushion
