Thinking of buying an 04 Saab 9-3 Linear

For the wife. It drives good and is in good shape. Carfax report came back clean. Anyone have experience with Saabs. I know that Saabs have some quirks, but so do the 8's, but my concern is with reliability. I know people who've owned them and I get mixed responses. If you have any info about the 9-3's let me know.
Thanks!

not too sure about the car itself but a guy at work just bought the 9-3 turbo sedan, he actually went to europe bought it and had it shipped on boat, he said it saved him a lot of money. he still had to pick it up at the dealership. you might want to check with your local dealership to see if you can work this out as well.

I guess if they make it, someone must be buying it. It doesn't seem to be a very good car when weighed against it's competition. But, if you're buying an '04, you're probably shopping to a dollar more than anything. I imagine there are better cars out there for that dollar though.

Agreed. Similarly priced to a TSX and Maxima. Would much rather have either of those two over a Saab.

The Saab we're looking at has got an attractive price - 17K. So that's why we're looking at it and not a 25K TSK/Maxima

You ever wonder why it's 17k. If not, you should. You should also be able to get an 04 TSX for 20ish. I'd glady pay 3 grand for it over the Saab.

I drove an 04 9-3 Aero at a GM event before. The ride is very smooth, the engine is very quiet with a subtle whistle from the turbo. Seems like a well-built car to me at first glance. The only quirky things are the starter, which is by the parking brake, and the black plastic door handles. 17K is kinda low, I wonder what is the mileage?

Keep in mind these cars are/were dirt cheap at various points over the last couple years. My friend leased a brand new one for $279 last year and I believe that was with $0 down. It was also possible to buy them for well under invoice. Lastly, the only reason to buy one if if you really like Saabs, there are much better choices in the class.
