For those of you with a V1. Weird things are happening!!!

So I have a V1 and everytime, without fail, that I pass an infiniti QX-56 I get some sort of false alarm. Either a laser, or the K band.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Could an IR headset for the rear seat DVD player be doing it?

possibly. But I mean it is only this car. and I'd assume this technology is not restricted to only it.

All QX-56s are undercover cop cars, didn't you know?

That would explain it. How silly of me not to think of that.

but seriously.

If it was like a new S-class Benz, Lexus LS, or 7-series BMW I would say it could be the collision detection radar of something but I don't think Q56's have this yet.

Probably not restricted to only the infiniti, but possibly the infiniti has a different frequency band that it uses to reduce the chances of interference from other manufacturers?

This is all just a guess.

It is likely a collision avoidance or similar system. Anything that uses laser/radar has a chance at being on the right frequency range to set off a detector. This counts for Lexus's self park, Volvo's parking assist, self-stop, and lane change warning, etc... Most luxury brands have some sort of system now used to measure distance around the vehicle. It might just be that Infinity's system is in an irritatingly close band as police radar. But then, it would probably also give police radar in the same band alot of problems, possibly acting as a jammer.

I gotta agree with everyone else here that it's most likely some sort of radar/laser based feature.

you should check out radardetectors.net

+1 For Radardetectors.net. I frequent that board.

However, it could very well be the brakelights. You'll notice when trailblazers and a few other cars brake, that'll set off your V1.

C&D said the new audi A4's adaptive cruise control used a k band radar that set off their radar detector... probably the same thing for the infiniti

Yup - this is an adaptive cruise control that the V1 is alerting to.

I've only heard of laser falses though from these Infinitis, though. The V1 alerts because it is super sensitive on laser (only radar detector that gives you a chance at detecting a laser hit).

My K40 goes off when my front sensor gets too close to my bro-in-law's car that also has a K40 (rear sensor.) Not sure exactly the reason, but detectors use interference to detect signal and they need to produce a small amount of the same frequency of the band it detects. Could be a little leak. Pretty sure this is how the vr2 radar detector detectors work.

Also read about the new audi cruise control radar in C&D.

And as for laser detectors not detecting. My Blinder works everytime. Have one in my Baja as well as teh RX8. Saved my *** at least 1 time for sure (85 in a 55)
