Mazda had 3 cars on that list and the RX-8 isn't one of them?!
I didn't bother to read it once I saw the 8 wasn't on there.

yeah, weird. but the article has categories...like "won't break the bank", "fuel efficient", "family friendly", etc. so i guess they would have hard time finding which category to put the 8 in...but yeah it wasn't just a list of fun cars to drive. well except the last category, but that was given to the m3 and cayman s

Mazda builds great driving machines. I love how the mark carries handling in its DNA, across all it's models.
Consumer-oriented auto industry reporting will generally only consider models in the "morning" or "daytime" of their production run, not at "sunset" like the RX8.
That said, according to C&D, the RX8 would prolly be in the "Fun, Bar None" category, as they rated it better than the BMW M3.

Respectfully disagree with this assessment...
IIRC, total cost of ownership for the RX8 is on the low side of the median for sports cars. Furthermore, given the fact that you can buy an R3 for less than what I originally paid for my 2004 Sport, I'd contend the economic case for the RX8 is quite compelling, actually, notwithstanding the RX8's higher-than-average fuel & oil consumption.
