Are there indeed 'a bunch of boys with pick up and dog' down in AL always on stand by for occasions such as these? They were faster on the scene than the police would be after a bank robbery. A little odd, is it not?

I'm not into it either, but I wouldn't go to Australia and say that Australia is never politically involved in anything and has no army, and then write that on my car knowing that ya'll would not appreciate it. You would have the same reaction. Probably something along the lines of "Get the *&^# out of my country!"

Australians are pretty politcally apathetic at the moment.

We are getting more and more pissed off at the treatment of David Hicks at the concentration camp down in Cuba, and starting to wake up to climate change ... but mostly it isn't enough to get us motivated to attack someone.

I'm trying to think of a situation where something similar would happen down here where a simple slogan would inspire violence. The only thing that comes to mind would be to play on the racial tensions in south west Sydney ...

There are a lot of Lebanese immigrants in that area, "lebos" being the local derogatory slang. A short while ago there was a weekend of rioting in a southern Sydney beach area called Cronulla. People in Sydney refer to that area as "the Shire", and it is pretty insular and old fashioned in their views on culture and immigration. When some Lebanese went there are assaulted some life savers, it sparked off some pretty serious racial aggravation.

So, painting your car in anti-lebanese slogans and driving into Lakemba (in SW Sydney) would likely get you shot or beaten to death. You couldn't outrun them either - a lot of very fast cars in that area.

And, they never did actually touch the three guys. So, I highly doubt that their intent was to physically harm them... because if it was their intent, they would have done it.

Not to mention, it was blatantly obvious that they were just trying to **** people off by writing that stuff on there. "Nascar sucks" pretty much gave that one away.

Hey that's kinda interesting. That dude Joseph Hachem who won the World Series of Poker was an Australia guy of Lebanese decent. Now I know a good way to get him on tilt next time I play him. Mwa ha ha.

The program is made to make you talk about it the next day at the watercooler. The more outragous the better. You could get similar reactions from retarded football suporters here, every nation has their white trash
BTW Diana gets on my ****, they still print her every week in the papers ffs!
I hate being represented by blair as much as you hate bush"my daddy had a war, I want one too, he he"
Getting all upset about things is how the middle east is shown in the media!
The world has to watch while the two big kids have a scrap(britain is the gobby kid egging them on in the background & is too afraid to fight on their own, although they soon got the falklands back )

Very funny. I bet they got their inspiration from the Ali G show.

Honestly, could you expect anything else from our country? We were founded by religous nuts(Puritans), convicts(orignally sent to GA) and other undesirables that weren't wanted in Europe. I'm suprised we've been so successful.

USA! USA!

You must not have done very well in history class. The idea that the people who left Europe were the nutty ones is great. I'm not even going to get into that because it's against forum rules.

As far as Georgia goes it was most certainly not a debtor's prison. It was essentially founded by a guy who had witnessed the atrocities of debtor's prison (in Europe) and wanted to make a colony for them in the New World. It was intended to be a safe haven and not a prison. And furthermore, as it so happened, not a single one of the founding colonists were prisoners or debtors.

Please don't take my post as fact- laced history lesson. It's hardly that. Looks like they tought history bettter in the "1st State" than in mine. I was merely trying to poke fun of our hard to explain, often eccentric nature. You thin-skinned bloody yank.(thats a joke)

Not to long ago I was yelled at by bible welding manaic for walking into a bar to have a beer. If anyone has been to MacGuires in P'Cola, Florida you know who I'm talking about.

Q: What if you sent all the prisoners to some island some where and came back decades later? What would they say to you?

A: "G'Day, mate!"

Actually you Yankees need a history lesson here because like many other nations you are wrong...

Yes, much off Australia was settled by "convicts (POMS)" from yea old England, BUT, not all of Australia's states and territories were home to 'bread' thieves.

Only one state were originally settled without any convicts but with the upper class and colony administrators...That state was my home state of
South Australia

It doesn't really matter that Adelaide / South Australia was a free colony. Most of the other cities were founded by convicts.

It makes for a good running joke. England sent all their criminals to Australia, and all their religious freaks to America.

That's why Australians value mateship and are naturally distrustful of authority, and Americans wrap themselves in their God and their flag and smite down wrath and fire on any who oppose them ...

... and the English continue to complain about the weather and those poorly bred barbarians in the colonies whilst listening to "Rule Brittania" on the radio.

My father's side of the family are all "British"...i.e. English debtors living in Australia. Until the day she died my great grandmother swore up and down that her parent's voyage to the big island was voluntary. She also thought it was good luck to rub the head of a black person but that's another story so...

BTW...has anybody seen last Sunday's episode of Top Gear yet?

I challenge the crew of Top Gear to see who's the first of the crew to collect the bandanna or hat of a "Blood" and a "Crip" in South Central L.A.... and remains alive to talk about it.

Second of all, fixing New Orleans isn't a federal issue, it's a state and local issue. Sure there are federal dollars available in disaster area funds for homeowners who apply, but is it enough to rebuild a house left badly damaged by flooding? The federal gov't does roads, highways, etc. The STATE and LOCAL gov'ts do everything else, BY DESIGN. That's how our founding fathers wanted it. To criticize, even roundly, the ENTIRE U.S.A citizenship for what is essentially a local political ****-up points to an extremely ill-informed, Socialist-centric, world view. I didn't see Clarkson asking why Indonesia hasn't jumped in and managed to fix everything flattened by that tsunami a while back. If a hurricane ever leveled London, it would cripple the UK for years, both in recovery time, and lost revenue. But... we'd be there first, immediately, and with our pocketbooks open, ready to help out. I sure don't see them doing the same, despite having ruled a substantial portion of the world at one time.

Third, driving anywhere in "redneck country" is bound to cause issues if you're stupid. On the bright side, it gives me hope that the rest of the country is as horrified by the thought of Hillary C in the Oval Office as I am! I suspect they were more pissed off by the NASCAR comment than anything, and I would have agreed right up until NASCAR screwed the pooch by obliterating their own adherance to their own safety rules by not throwing the caution at the end of the Daytona 500. Two yokels wreck IMMEDIATELY behind the leaders, in FRONT of the entire 185 mph field, and there's NO CAUTION? GREAT FRIGGIN' HELL, why bother to have that rule on the books in the first place? Boris Said (a sportscar driving legend with more talent in his pinky than I have in my entire body) spun into the in-field off of turn 2 (I think) early in the race and drew an IMMEDIATE caution when he was so completely off track that he could have climbed out and got a brew and a ******* through the fence before restarting his car and heading for the pits!

If foreigner wants to knock our country, they can start with the politicians placing personal gain before stout leadership. Or multi-billion dollar corporations posing as racing leagues ignoring their own safety rules in the interest of entertainment value. Either pushes my hot button right now. Oh wait, that pretty much rules out Kofi Anan and the entire UN, and oh, perhaps Formula One too...

How can you get all riled about something that was probably STAGED?
Why would 'the boys' have a shorter reaction time than fire fighters? Why would people with jobs or even without jobs be quicker than fire fighters? Does nobody find this a little strange?

What your great granny swore was quite possible and probably true, as I said above the state of South Australia (in the middle of Australia and down the south)was settled by non convicts, so if these people were not sentenced to Australia by the English Justice system then I guess you could call their voyage voluntary.

The show is certainly scripted to a large extent, so you make a good point.

Have you ever been to the deep south? I would bet money this was real. And the fact that they were British is probably the worst thing ever. They're like ultra-northerners or something to them.
