I love seeing the races from the 70's when they would have to come into the pits to have there stock steel bumper wired back on. Thats when it was fun teams went to a car dealer a bought a stock car and turned it into a race car none of this cookie cutter crap

Actually, they got them from the manufacturer as "body in white" models. They were actually just white painted bodies that had absolutely nothing installed. The team would then install their own parts (engine, trans, suspension, .....) to go racing.

Cool article, zoom. Thanks for sharing.
NASCAR is old school technology, simply put, no way to argue it differently. I have been in professional motorsports pretty much my entire career. I know many people who left road racing jobs in manufacturing or mechanic backgrounds for NASCAR jobs (more available jobs on the east coast). Each and everyone of them will tell you the technology is old.
The average NASCAR fan does not know nor care about the technology behind the series. Road racing is completely different. The majority of the fans are into the technical aspects. The argument which is better, as mentioned, is subjective. I have often thought it stems from the type of fan each series has.
To me Nascar is built to be a fan attraction, a traveling circus so to speak. Job one for them is to put people in the stands, get more corporate sponsors, attract more tracks and then comes the actual vehicle technology. I will hand it to them as they are doing an excellent job of that. I for one can not watch NASCAR since my motorsports enjoyment comes from the technology.
I have to admit, I did watch Boris and Jacques kick some but last weekend in the bush series on the road course.
