TOYOTA GT 86 Toyota Announce Vids w/Xlation
#7
U.S = Scion FR-S
Japan = Toyota GT 86
I personally hate the final tail light design, looks too much like the toyota Celica's tail lights and performance seems to be also on the crappy side. Looking forward to the Subaru version of this car specially the "Subaru BRZ sti", they re-designed their own headlights, tail lights, front end/rear end and packing 300+ hp.
why did toyota f#ck up the look of this car when they got it right in the first place?:

My gripe with the Toyota final production so far is mainly with the dash layout. Esp. the center stack is cramped, ugly, with squared off edges and buttons and dials etc. cramed into it down low in front of the stick. The tack on airbags are like from the 90s and there are weird air outlets tacked onto the top of the dash.

Perhaps I've been sitting in the RX-8 for too long with it's classy but simple dash layout
And the pic above are not from the standard car, this is the upgrade version.

We'll the Subaru 'version' or should I say 'clone' is out now. Yawn.. almost exactly the same - giving new meaning to the word "Toybaru". All hope of a 'better' 'faster' more aggressive and evolved GT-86 has evaporated into personal preference for the front bumper, and which badge you favor. Sad.
foo77, the best that can be said for the back seat is that it forms a flat floor when folded that is purpose built for 4 track tires or a few golf bags lol
But yea, who asked for the 90's back? Toyota and sleek style seems to be an oxymoron or, better said, only available in their concepts, not their production vehicles. Just put any of the concepts side by side to either of these and the cost cutting is pervasive and hurts the eyes.

The base scion starts at $21k.
The base Subaru is loaded with extras, and starts at $24k. The high trim is $27k
The rear seats should be looked at as 'storage space vaguely shaped like seats to help bring down insurance prices.'
Agreed, the interior is inferior to the 8.
It is slowly looking like I might be parking a satin white pearl BRZ next to my 8, trading in my Miata to make the room. I'm still thinking that it's visuals work better in person with it's small size than they do in pictures where it looks mid-to-full size. I didn't originally like the looks of the 8 after all.

There's good news about the back "seat" ... as when it's folder down there's a clear path for storage there, no cross brace like the RX-8. Nice and flat for those four track tires in a car barely bigger than a Miata.

The view I've been searching for. Looks like a hatchback, like an old honda, or Datsun. Very nice
Can just leave the seat back down really.... or take it all (back and cushions) out completely for track days and save some weight! Far better than the 350/370Z with that brace across and in the way.

Yeah, i really dont think the 'seats' are for people. Just insurance companies, track wheels, and other track stuff.
Just look through their rear seat comments. The official comments. All about gear what can fit, nothing about actual people.
