Toyota MR-2

I had a 1987 MR2. Great little car. Fun to drive around the twist and great gas milage (33 mpg). If you are looking for online forum I would suggest www.mr2oc.com. A lot of knowledgable people there and they are willing to help.

I just traded a 2000 mr2. Loved it , would loved to have keep it. Great second car.
Not sure about it being a car to drive 80 miles for work.?
If its a 2000 up. They are not many made , only 5000 each year.

older mr2's, the sw20 and aw11, are VERY reliable, so i heard and read. mostly 'cuz those cars were "over-engined," meaning the car is small and so light that it puts less strain on the engine than the original cars they were designed for, ie corolla, etc. i loved 'em. don't know too much about the new ones, but i suspect the same

Besides the fact that its one of the most impractical street cars you can buy, I think they are cool. I like the older supercharged and turbo ones much better than the new convertibles though.

The car was overheated and the HG is gone (I think). Still haven't had time to open up the Engine. The engine has over 200K miles so it is due for a rebuild anyway but I am thinking about swapping a GZE or 20V 4AG into the car...hehe~

here's what I had before my 8--sold it to a guy in the army. miss it sometimes - really nice car but because of miles it was soon to start needing a lot of new stuff (140k) fun to take to track though -- hugs the corners great.

No big deal. You can delete your own post.
Click on Edit button and then check the box on the top left corner. Then click on the Delete Now button. Quick before anyone notices! :D
BTW, nice looking black MR2 you had there. That was my cousin's dream car. Its styling ages quite well, I should say. Plus, it's also interesting to note that the MR2 is the cheapest MR (mid-engine, rwd) car you can buy.

no -- good guess though. It was actually a 92, but the previous owner had completely changed it to look exactly like a 98 model which was only sold in Japan. The wheels, rear spoiler and front lip are all 98 model J-Spec parts shipped from Japan. Then the whole car was repainted. We took it to several MR2 meets while we owned it and it always got LOTS of attention because it was so different, but so authentic to those who knew what the 98's looked like.
would have kept it and continued the restoration but couldn't afford to have 2 cars -- needed this as a daily driver and was taking more money than I wanted to pour into to it to keep it as one...love my 8 much better, even though it doesn't get the attention the "2" did....
