Toyota to recall 4 million vehicles in the US
To replace the gas pedals. I saw an article that said they will replace "some" in Canada as well.
This is ongoing fall out from the floor mat getting stuck under the pedal causing runaway acceleration problem. Toyota made a statement a week or so ago saying "Oh its just a minor floor mat issue" and the NHTSA guys responded in public

They rarely make a public rebuke like that because the car companies usually pass the press releases by them first to make sure they are complying properly.
So now Toyota is going to replace the pedals with shorter ones. I wonder how owners will feel with smaller pedals.
I saw the news about Tiger's accident outside his home and thought immediately it sounded like sudden unintended acceleration... I wonder if he was driving a Toyota or Lexus?
there are still some concerns about their tranny and start-button setup that haven't been addressed

"Removing the floor mats was "simply an interim measure" and "does not correct the underlying defect in the vehicles involving the potential for entrapment of the accelerator by floor mats, which is related to accelerator and floor pan design."
