Toyota Yaris 3dr Hatchback vs Suzuki SX4 Touring
#27
heh. When I see Yaris, I do not see cute. I see death trap.
I say force her to pick between cute and mpg. The 2009 Honda Accord Diesel will be out shortly. 60 mpg goodness.

Suzuki is not going anywhere in the car business. They actually sell more cars in Japan than Toyota does. As far as reliable, the Japanese ones are. Suzuki also sells more cars world wide than Mazda does. The SX4 is based off the Swift which is hugely popular in Asia and Europe and has won a lot of awards. They have also been the fastest growing car company for years.
I sell just Toyota's now. They are good cars. There cars have been falling in quality and longevity. The 2009 Matrix and Corolla feel, sound, and drive cheap. They do have great resale though. If you are only planning on keeping the car for about 3 years or so, the Yaris is the way to go.
I just get a little irritated when people bash Suzuki and they are good cars. They are usually bashed by people who have never owned one and have no experience with them. (But, there were problems with the Reno and Forenzas that are Korean built and in conjunction with GM.) Toyota's are not all that. They all handle like ****. They are so boring. The quality on the cars have been going down hill. Especially on the 2009's and the v-6's and v-8's are not up to par with the 4 cyl.

No doubt those Honda dealers are marking up those things. Do you like the Versa? The Yaris is fine. I wish they'd bring the 5DR hatch over. Our 4DR sedan is ugly and awkward. I saw the 5DRs in Canada.

they do make impressive cars, look at the WRC Swift, Turbo the inline 4 and u get a 320ps. too bad u cant buy that lol
I think the reason why Toyota's quality gone down ately, because they've been focusing too much on their Lexus brand.
Now they feel the threat from other companies, and start focusing on its own brand again. 2009 looks pretty promising, but just not sure about its long term quality.
No Versa. Its too lame.

P5 ? u mean Mazda 5 ?
Meh, it looks weird to me. so no
GM
No thx
Im dealing with Dealership B, they have 2 Bayou Blue, not my 1st color of choice, so I told B that dealership A has the color and trim that I want. and asked them to swap it.
Last night I checked both dealership's online inventory, dealership A has 2 Blue hatchback in stock. B has 2 Bayou, all same car, trim, option, just different color. and it saids its *real time inventory*.
This morning, I emailed Dealership B and told them that I MUST see the car in your lot before I will come down south to sign the papers
I didnt get any replies today, but b4 I checked Dealership A's inventory again, one of the Blue hatchback is *gone*, and it has been replaced with another Bayou.
then I check the Dealership B's inventory, one of the Bayou is *gone*, but no Blue in.
So Im thinking did they really swap cars ? I will confirm it tomorrow (calling them)
I gave a few Suzuki dealers a call, only couple of MTs with my color of choice left. So they're being a dick about it. I was like, screw u guys.

Suzuki is trying to improve its brand across the NA market. cuz their Korean made cars really screwed them up, big time. so the resale value might get better after a few yrs. who knows SX4 is build in Japan, so I trust its quality actually. (if I get it)

There is a Turbo Vitz u can buy directly from the company in Japan, for I think 3 Million something yen, its boosted to like 150ps or something, Full body kit and stuff. freaking nice, oh well we will not get it here.
If I do get a Yaris , Im thinking I might put Blitz Compressor into it.
Right now, its all "thinking"

My will to buy a Yaris vs SX4 :
80% / 20%
Hmm. I just gave another call to suzuki dealer thats like 300 miles away, same thing, wants to rip me off.
and I gave a call to the Toyota dealer down south, he said he will speak with his manager first then call back, cuz they want to be sure that I will go and get the car, not just *bsing*.

What I ment to say is that the Suzuki didn't give any trouble in the 17 years we owned it. We bought the Rav 'cause a friend of ours drove hers for 316K miles!!! No major repairs. I would trust a REAL Suzuki, not a rebaged by GM Korean thing.

I sealed a deal.
New LB, blue, with power and cold weather pkg, keyless entry, ABS, F&R side airbags. the des charge is a rip off from Toyota. comes out to around 13.5K. (I do the Tax and title @ DMV myself when Im back to NYC)
So with tax and stuff its about 15K. Not bad IMO.
Cant beat a new car's smell

The next hard part would be ...
taking a 5 hours bus down south, then find the Subway station, get off then I have to walk 3 miles to the dealership, sign the papers, cry cuz the money flies away, happy cuz have a new ride, then have to drive 5 hours to get back to the city ... Gas ...
