Traded the 8 for a Speed 3

I totally agree with you there and yes given equal drivers the edge will probably favor the EVO. I only posted the video to show that the difference from a roll isn't night and day like some would have you believe.
Thanks and happy holidays to you too.

To play fair, if you are gonna say the EVO 8 isn't very fast from a roll, then at least acknowledge that the Speed 3 isn't either in bone stock form.
I assume you are reverting to the price you pay for the car new, and relating that to what you think it should do on the highway. The EVO is not geared or tuned that way, nor should one buy one with that intent and prefference. If an owner wanted it to be a highway monster, it can be done with relative ease.
Any car can be modded to perform better, that's not the point. There's already a kit for the MS3 putting it around 300 whp with 300+ ft/lbs of torque.
Either way, the Speed 3 is more along the lines of a nicer Srt-4, which makes for a great, affordable, go fast car, with the refinement that the SRT lacks. I think very highly of it for it's price, but if I owned one, I'd stay clear of any modified STI or EVO, regardless of the type of race.
Still a ways to go before the aftermarket can compete. No doubt it can keep up with an EVO or STI on the highway, but then again, that's taking away the strength of one vehicle, and pertaining it to the strength of another. If you wanna play totally fair, run them both off the line up to top speed, and see who wins.
Actually if we want to play fair we'd either have to make them all FWD or AWD.
And off the line the AWD will be superior, there's no argument there.

OK kids It's XMAS Let's all be "nice" or no presents ok?
Let's go back to the topic on hand
For what is worth, even the STI and EVO forums are "talking" about the MS3 and its capabilities(there is a reason why this car is being "compared" to these rice machines) Even some EVO/STI owners are switching to MS3 because of the "sleeper factor", affordable performance, affordable payments and affordable insurance
And once again, the topic was MS3 for RX8 and once again I'll say, the RX8 is an AWESOME driver's car and even more fun
So SD what about you?? Still no word from you that started this topic

Jeremy Clarkson verdict on Mazdaspeed 3.
"...it is at best a flawed also-ran."
"What is most puzzling is not simply how the same people who make driver’s cars as good as the MX-5 and RX-8 could get this so wrong, but the fact that this engine can also be found in the Mazda6 MPS, a fine and underrated machine."

I wasn't bashing the MS3. I was just informing folks of the article and I didn't want to start a new thread.
I actually like the MS3 after the test drive. It's not a refined machine by all means. Now I know why they're pitching it as their "wild child". It's a fantastic car in that respect, but I believe, quality issues aside, the GTI MkV is a much better car in this segment by design.

Momentum Keeps Me Going
The MS3 is a compromise car that does some things very very well in normal driving. Still it's an economy car design at its heart, so it doesn't replace a Lexus or BMW. For cheap you can't have it all... but that doesn't mean it's not fun it its own right, flaws and all. Just like the 8.

He called us motorcyclists a bunch of homo's, enraging many. I don't care, the guy's funny and, the 8 aside, I agree with him more than I disagree.

I think Mazda actually targeted well with this one. The brute force is part of the charm. It appeals to folks (mostly young) who treasure horsepower over balance.
But you have to admit, this will be a much better car with AWD.

The MS6 by contrast is probably not a class leader, which is why I think it wasn't exactly a media darling. Although I do recall that it got its share of favorable press. However, I feel that when you compare MS3 and MS6, the MS6 is a better car in terms of balance, as JC stated.
