AC is a different story.

When I was in the market for a sports car, I considered everything in this price range... G35, 350Z, RX-8, WRX STi, Evo, etc. All of them were terrific in their own right. The RX-8 won because of its uniqueness, beautiful looks, and insanely high revving engine. When I drove the STi and Evo, I was floored by the power and the music but a little put off by the looks. Although I think they look cool, I don't know if anyone else would hehehe.
My point really is every one of these cars is wicked and I wouldn't mind owning any of them... that said I want more power!!!

[QUOTE=As far as your Evo comment you're a bit confused, the Evo comes with A/C save for the recently introduced RS model which is meant to be a more barebones track car, but even with that you can get A/C as an option.[/QUOTE]
One of the guys I work with bought an EVO when they first were avail. in the US. At that point he did have to pay extra for the A/C. You can fault me for using old info.
As for the unique aspect of the 8, ompared to the G35/350z WRX/STI and Evo.
Like most people here I see more of the mentioned cars execept the Evo and the 8.

I'm sorry to inform you that your friend got ripped off! My Evo was one of the first shipment on the east coast and the only things that were options were the sunroof and the wing (the wing really was kinda standard with the first shipments). The A/C was standard!

There are already more RX-8s on the road than there are STis and Evo combined.
Hornet, as far as I know on the 03 Evo the wing is standard but you do have the option of the CF wing as opposed to the standard, I've never seen nor heard of an 03 or maybe even 04 Evo being available wingless from the dealer unless they make special arangements. But you probably know better than I do so correct me if I'm wrong.

i personaly love the looks of the sti...the evo is okay but i woudl perfer the sti first....but as in all things beauty is in the eye of the beholder....and pretty much every thing is subjective.:p

i wound go for STi's looks... .some how it looks more arrgressive.... BUT i would go for the EVO for it's handeling.... it's active YAW control shifts power from side to side.... so in reallly hard corners.... it oculd be 1 wheel drive..... the STi thends to understeer while the EVO can just handel any corner.... u can just flick the steering wheel hard and the slides r sooo controled that u can't overcook the corner....

Sorry, I should have been more specific! I meant to say that the Carbon Fiber wing was supposed to be an option instead of the OZ Rally wing. The only thing was the ones with the smaller wing were not available for until about 3 months after the car went on sale in the U.S. if I remember correctly!

The Evo RS does indeed come with an AC. Initially when the RS announced, they were going to make it bare bones - no ac and no stereo and then offer the Urban Jungle package with those two things available. Now the difference between the RS versus the GSR or MR is the lack of power windows, wing, ABS and sound deadening material.
The RS is the only Evo that does not come with a wing or tail of any kind.
AYC is only available outside the US. The US guys only get Mitsu's Active Center Differential and now, the not so resilient 6 speed tranny in the MR.
Having owned both an Evo and now an RX8, I would never in my life race against an Evo or STI in the straights or the twisties. But, when it comes to daily driving, the RX8 is the clear winner.

Wow. I'm chiming in late on this one. Congrats. I was in same boat as you. The difference was, when it came down to trading in RX8, I could not do it. I loved the STI, but there's no way I'd have been happy. So I decided to welcome myself to a world of debt, and I now own both. The RX8 just has everything the STI doesn't, and vice versa. Practicality: STI. Power and performance: STI Looks: RX8, Refinement: RX8, ect ect. They are two different cars, so i'm amazed that you made that kind of a trade in. I tried, but just couldn't do it. BTW, the 05 STI now comes with a stereo standard.. The 04 model came without one and it was a dealer install option.
